F.

Have to win vs Kamloops tomorrow. If you go 0-2 you're pretty likely to not even make it out of the round robin.

It was looking pretty good. Seattle was clearly dominating the play, but the Petes kept either leading or being tied. Too bad it fell apart in the 3rd.

Today will be interesting. Both really need a win. I don't think it's too early to say this is a must win for the Petes. Starting 0-2 and then playing Quebec would pretty much guarantee they don't win the whole thing. Of course, I say that, but we know this team is incredibly resilient and are never truly out of anything.

Should be a fun one today. The crowd will be more into it with the home team playing. They might need to withstand an early flurry from the Blazers, who I would expect to come out hot (pun intended?)

And Beck...one minute I'm shaking my head that he's risking a major penalty and/or suspension, the next minute he's going end to end to score a beauty!

yeah I would say this is a must win today. Definitely the most beatable team here and just have to play the way we played the first 40 minutes, and keep the strong d posture that we had that gave us success clocking lanes, and ready for the first pass up the ice. GO PETES GO

Don't under estimate Kamloops. They were 31-7-3 at home this season, and 3rd highest scoring team in the CHL.

Kamloops is fast and generates chances as a result. The Petes play such a smothering defensive style that for most for the game that opposing teams will hit a wall. Ironically the Petes also expose themselves with so much pressure in their D zone. Two of the Seattle goals last night were a result of turnovers by Petes defensemen trying to clear the puck up the boards. Seattle started to read those set plays and it worked causing the turnovers.

Coach Wilson noted that in a post-game interview and they will be addressing it for today's game.

Overall though I was really impressed with the Petes in Game 1.

Blazers goaltending is mediocre at best. That's the weak spot, as noted on Friday.

I really enjoyed the Petes style. Should be a good one.

Ya Simpson looked locked in but the second half of that game he was not the same guy. Easily winnable game but oh well. Tomorrow it is!
The loss was mostly on Simpson. I think the Gustafson goal would have been a difficult stop because it was a hard shot through traffic after a cross ice pass. These kind of shots are tough to stop and I don't blame Simpson for it. He also made a few nice stops...I think the very few dangerous shots Seattle fired at him he actually stopped. With no rebounds or very good rebound control. The goals he gave up were soft though. Not good enough. Yeah, it wasn't all his fault. The Ciona goal for example happens after a brutal giveaway (by Smith?). Still, it wasn't a good shot and Simpson has to catch it or at least steer it aside.

Seattle had more shots, more offensive zone time and more possession but Peterborough had the better chances. If you don't convert your chances (eg Robertson missing the empty net) and your goalie lets in soft ones then it's difficult to win at the Memorial Cup.

No passion from anyone tonight. Gotta hope they show up in the next game.
Lots of passion from Gauvreau. Not sure if it was a smart thing to do though. If Kamloops scores another one on that PP then it's probably game over.

Definitely not winning this tournament lol these teams are way better then any team the Petes faced in the playoffs
Petes had the better chances vs Seattle. Seattle wasn't better than London or North Bay. Unfortunately, Simpson had a bad game.

I'm not sure what to make of tonight's game. Kamloops is clearly very good but the Petes also don't look like they're really trying. This game is zero competitive. Either the Petes are tired or they're intimidated by a home team coming out of the dressing room on fire. They can't blame their goalies either. I think the Minten goal was a soft one but the other ones not so much. Petes are just outclassed. They lose every single puck battle.

Well, they need to win 4 in a row now. It can be done (Windsor, I believe, in 2009?) but isn't likely. That's kind of how it goes in this tournament, however. It can be cruel and doesn't necessarily reflect the quality of the team that loses.

Not necessarily the smartest, but it was nice to see someone show some life. I think everyone knew the Blazers would come out strong and physical. The Petes just couldn't handle the physical play. At least Gauvreau made an attempt to answer back.

I'm not throwing in the towel on this tournament (this game, yeah, it's over) but no matter what happens, the Petes played 68 games, won 16 games over 4 rounds including taking out the two undisputed heavyweights of the east, and did it in a manner that I think it's safe to say none of us expected, given how they played during the season (particularly the last 2 months). No matter what happens the rest of tonight, and Tuesday, this is one hell of a good team that has accomplished a ton.
