I heard chia is closing in on a deal that would send RNH to florida in exchange for next year's 5th round pick and a 5 pound bag of miami beach sand

In other news, NYI still the same mediocre team they were last year

Yep, we sure are and hold great company with your team! oh by the way, you need to update that line under your avatar, oh and the pic itself while your at it. and oh, Chia is not finished so, delay that order, I am sure RNH or Eberle will also be gone soon!

Really, do you honestly think he traded Taylor Hall on a whim, without surveying the landscape? Like I said Hall is not as valuable as HF thinks he is.

There were a bunch of reports that NYI had a better package offered, and that other GMs, interviewed after the fact, indicated that they would have offered more had they been aware that Hall was available.

There was one report like that, and it was from BD Gallof. Arthur Staple later stated the Isles were that team, but didn't want to part with Hamonic, so what does that tell you?

seems like the guy doesn't know how to extract the most value out of his deals as possible. Larsson for Hall straight up is ludacrious. Hopefully oil fire him soon.

His player evaluation skills are horrible too. For him to think Griff Reinhart was worth two first rounders who turned into barzal and beuvillier, he's completely out of his mind

well FA didnt even start yet so thats debatable..

The Isles already lost their opportunity to add the best winger that's been traded in the last few years- and a superior one to any of the FAs out there this summer, at least from a purely offensive point of view. All, according to your own beat guy, because they wouldn't part with Hamonic.

I think it's clear the Isles aren't going to be a massively improved team come puck drop, and may even be worse in the future if they throw big dollars after Andrew Ladd.

From TSN this A.M.

"Lucic is believed to have turned down a six-year, $36 million offer from Los Angeles, allowing him to hit the market. He's reportedly being courted by 10 or more teams with the thought that his new deal will exceed $40 million - perhaps at $42 million - over seven years."

If he signs Lucic 7 years 42 Million, that would be a questionable deal.

I would be shocked if LA was willing to go 6 years for ML. If the Kings were willing to offer that deal - and ML turned it down - he is 100% chasing the benjamins and it'll potentially bite him in the arse later.

Yeah I don't agree still. As a Flyers fan this feels like JVR for L.Schenn all over again. A top potential LW heading into his prime for a Defensive Dman that failed to live up to the hype. While I do believe Larsson is better than Schenn, I also believe Hall is better than JVR.

Oilers made an impatient move. They were finally on the path to become a powerhouse and they show that they still don't have any solutions. Flyers are finding defensive prospects all over the place, why exactly can't the Oilers?

This is a management issue...again.

Charelli has traded Seguin, Hall, and Kessel, and did not receive the proper compensation from any of those trades.

The Flyers have a ridiculously deep set of blueline prospects they're building around. The Oilers don't, and the type of guy they needed typically are not available.

The concept of BPA is that you trade from an area of strength to fill needs. The Oilers strength is forward, specifically winger. To the extent that they "lost" the trade from a value perspective is less important that the strategic aspect of building the team.

The Oilers have refused to "lose" a deal based on trade value, and have iced a fundamentally flawed team for the longest time. I don't buy the "didn't know Hall was available", because there have been rumors for that for at least a week.

It's been my experience that people interpret event to meet their own internal dialogue. "Oilers got pwned in the trade, Chia is a moron!". At the end of the day, if the Oilers feel like Larsson has #1 potential, that's why they made the deal. Time will tell if that actually comes to fruition.

I bet you would.

I bet Chiarelli would....

I think we all learned a valuable lesson yesterday. HFB does not determine the actual trade values of players. The amount of EDM fans that would come onto the proposal boards and throw out ridiculous asking prices for their assets just took a huge kick in the ass yesterday.

Just temper the expectations. Chia does not do good with returns.

Probably signing Lucic. However, saying this as someone who saw Larsson play---Edmonton no longer has any need fro Jason Demers, although I wouldn't be surprised if another defenseman is on the way for Edmonton. Larsson's price was high because he's a defensive stalwart (a la Vlasic or Bouwmeester), is signed for 5 more seasons (until he's 28), and is a right-handed shot. How scary good would a Larsson-Klefbom pairing look?
