I think most people overrate there own players. I would not trade Klefbom period. His value is not real high right now but I would think similar to Spurgeon. With another year of development I think Klefbom with his contract will be worth nearly the same as Larsson is in trade value now. I could be wrong but to consider him less value to your team than Scandella just looks wrong to me.

Spurgeon has more value than Larsson right now.

Completely disagree, I don't mind trading Hall for a 23 year old high end #2 defensemen with #1 potential. I think Klefbom is similar a lower tier #2 with less chance of being a #1. I see Spurgeon as a low end #2 and would never have considered trading Hall for him.

You guys got robbed in that deal so I can see why you want to believe that you got a better player than you did. Spurgeon hasn't been involved in any trade talks for a reason, he's a fantastic #2 that isn't even close to comparable to Klefbom.

I doubt Edmonton would have traded Hall for Spurgeon and I doubt New Jersey would have traded Larsson for Spurgeon. I'm going to disagree.

We wouldn't have traded Spurgeon for Larsson ever, we already have Brodin. Spurgeon wasn't in trade talks so he wouldn't have been moved. If I'm Edmonton though, I'd take Spurgeon over Larsson cause he would have been exactly what Edmonton was looking for. A puck moving Top 2 defensemen NOW that can also QB a PP. To each their own though.

Actually we needed a big minute right d more then anything. We can have our pp qb be a number 4 d. We needed a guy we could toss out 24-25 min a night and feel comfy that he will be reliable.

So Spurgeon then? Because this is exactly Spurgeon but those rose colored shades are blinding you if you think for a minute Larsson is better than Spurgeon.

The funny thing is, if Edmonton traded for one of MIN D, everyone will say that player is overrated and a 2nd pairing guy at best. Just like Larsson, as soon as someone is an Oiler they're automatically worth 75% original value.

Did you just try to state Sekera, Davidson, Nurse AND ****ing Reinhart are better than Brodin? How'd that work out for you guys last year? GTFO with that nonsense.

Also apparently Dumba is done developing, good to know.

It will be funny when Brodin and Dumba go off this year and every EDM fan will be wishing they traded for either of them.

No I didn't, lrn2rd.

No, the Oilers just got fleeced. Hall should have been traded for someone like Subban, not Larsson.

in all fairness, after the Larsson deal, I don't think I saw one Oiler fan that said it was a fair deal. They were all calling for Chia's head and all still said its not the dman they could have gotten for Hall. A lot of fans are starting to be OK with it now, cause they have to... but majority of fans still feel it was horrendous. Wasn't just non Oiler fans saying it, it was die hard Oiler fans

It was a horrendous deal, but still Larsson got undervalued drastically as soon as he was an Oiler. I'm not even a fan and I see how it happens on HF all the time. I think what happened was Chiarelli was forced into losing a deal because of desperation, but now that they aren't desperate for a defenceman, they can make fair value deals.

the one thing that sucks now is seeing silly offers for Oilers good players with the comment "well if Hall can only get Larsson, then why not?"

I've been wanting to trade Hall for some time. They should have done it last year. The return is close to what I thought it would be. I've always said I would do Hall for Hamonic +small add, and I think Larsson has a higher upside. An added pick would have been nice but oh well.

Having that opinion always kept me in the large minority but I'm one of the few oiler fans that thinks RNH is more important to the oilers going forward.

Make no mistake, I was hoping Hall would be our 'Messier' and lead us to the promise land but the more I've watched him play, the more limitations I see in his game.

Good post. If anything now that we have Larsson, we aren't negotiating from a position of weakness and desperation.

Also, the value of a Dman is significantly higher than a winger. Centre also holds higher value which is why seeing Drai or Nugent-Hopkins moved will be very unlikely.

I think a depth player or two will be added via free agency and thats it.

I think Chia is loathe to trade any of his centres. The dropoff is huge after the big 3 with no one in the pipeline and, like his lack of defensive play or not, Eberle is the only guy that can consistently score. An argument can be made that Hall was the most tradeable after all. Although we were hoping for a better return.

Sekera, Pouliot, Yakupov, futures might be in play but what does that get you? Not much.

I'd be very surprised if the Oilers do anything else big this summer and Chia will be looking to take advantage of a team in trouble this time around as opposed to the Hall deal which even he admits was needs based for a player he really likes.

Ive never really been a huge fan of Hall either and thought he should definitely be utilized in a trade due to the return I thought he could get, and quite a while back I posted a trade idea that I thought was fair(the return was a lot better than Larsson) and I was absolutely ripped apart and ridiculed. I vowed to never come up with Hall trade ideas after that cause I honestly think it ruined a lot of people days haha.

Seriously? This is just dumb. Funny how so many Edm fans suddenly think Hall isnt really that good or havent really been a fan of him or liked him that much when he gets traded... Classic post-trade comments, why am i not surprised..
