Anyways the Oilers should make an offer of RNH + Davidson for Barrie + Comeau or Avs 2017 2nd. Sign Barrie for $33-36/6.

First off, you give Oilers84 a tough time on his trade offer (which admittedly was horrendous) but I don't know that this one is much better. If the Avs wanted RNH, maybe - but lets assume they don't since he is so much like both MacK and Duchene and RNH would (IMO only) just be a lesser version of either of them. In which case it would be much more likely we want Draisaitl. Could be why it hasn't happened yet. Chia tried to force RNH for Larsson too and NJ said nope, you want Larsson it costs Hall. We say the same thing, you want Barrie it costs Draisaitl. And if we include a second forward we need one back along with Drai.

Second, if it was only going to cost 5.5 or 6m x 6 for Barrie he would already be signed and we wouldn't be trading him in the first place. If you do get Barrie its 7 million for him, count on that.

Also, the Avs aren't getting rid of Pickard, he will be kept, so your roster will be a good 1 million over.

We traded Hall. We arent trading away our 1st overall 2 way center in RNH. At 23 he is the most experienced center we have. Draisaitl is 20 and Mc David is 19.

Let the Avs re sign Barrie. We arent paying them premium assets to save them the pain of overpaying the guy.

I actually believe you are incorrect. Nuge is likely available for Barrie. Considering we just traded Hall, I think it is safe to say that the only untouchable forwards we have are McDavid, Draisaitl, Puljujarvi and Lucic.

I'll trust you know the Oilers D better than I do, but aren't Nurse and Klefbom offensive D? Seems like a good mix would be helpful. For example:

Nurse - Larsson

You've got a more offensive defenceman with a big point shot on the left who can join the rush, and on the right, a guy who can suppress shots and cover when the left d gets caught up ice. Seems to me a stay at home defenceman helps the offense by letting offensive defencemen play offence more.

Nurse... not at all. Limited offensive vision in the O-zone. Klefbom is Klingberg-lite though. Big, extremely mobile, and has a booming slapper.

I'd be happy to trade Nurse+ for Barrie.

Klefbom is a stay at home Dman, but when he played last year he did put up respectable numbers offensively, given some good pp time.
Nurse hasn't shown much of anything, but I think after some time in the AHL, he will be a very good offensive Dman, just like in junior.
IMO if Chia can't land Barrie, they should just go forward with what they have now:
Klefbom-Larsson
Sekera-Fayne
Davidson-Gryba(if he resigns) /Reinhart.

Not the greatest but their defence looked good before Klefbom went down, and adding Larsson can only help.
