I think your read is incorrect. I liked Dubas. I'd like the Leafs to get Perry.
Perry is built for the playoffs, its a no brainer to sign him.

Didn’t like Dubas, don’t want Perry. There are better options to fill that role if they really need someone, which I don’t think they do.

Many of his adds were past their expiry date but they were not all ballerinas. I'm not sure he wouldn't have looked hard at Perry unless there was a personal bias like he doesn't like "pricks". He might be scheming to add him right now who knows?
If we're worried about a 40 year old, fake tough guy 4th liner knocking us out of the playoffs, we have much bigger issues.

He would need to be surrounded with the Right mix. With the Leafs he may not be as effective at knocking anyone out of the playoffs, but with a few teams he would be a valuable asset.
Nope. He's a piece of shit. As far as team morale goes, refer to as recent as his short Chicago stint. Also, how do you think his act will go over with officials/DOPS while wearing a Leaf jersey?

The guy played forever in the league and by all accounts has been a great teammate.
Leafs are one of the least penalized teams in the league, I doubt that would change.
I don't know that they need him though.

Treliving made the point about getting more snot on the team. As far as Perry goes, he’s a full wad of used tissue paper. I think he’s got a bit left in the tank but is mostly going to be a big agitator for the other team. And I think it’ll be a nice change of pace if the Leafs have a guy who can mess with the emotional balance of the other team. We always come in second when it comes to that mind games matchups. The Leafs are built like Boy Scouts.

I think this is the most likely scenario based on our group of softies.
1 man alone can’t make us tougher or harder to play against, it has to be a team mindset and we have mental midgets in that regard.
Thats why I find what Benoit is accomplishing quite extraordinary. He’s literally dragging people to the fight. Let’s see how long it lasts, at which point adding Perry might up the compete level.
