I wonder what the lay of the land is for Dubas Fans /Dont want Perry vs non Dubas fans /wants Perry

I feel like this is a left vs right political issue that Dubas used to cater to.

Glad those days are gone and we are brining in players based upon hockey and not political leanings.

Just win baby.

LOL....What?????? When did this ever happen???? Unless you are on top of each players "political leanings" this is as far out there as injecting bleach.

what about the Dubas fans that want Perry vs the non Dubas that don't want Perry.....why exclude them?

Also...who cares about Dubas - he isn't the GM now.

Oh..and yes - just win

I get so unbelievably tired about any and all names that hit the market and INSTANTLY they are coming to Toronto.

We don't need Perry. We don't have room for Perry.

WE NEED DEFENSE. FFS. DEFENSE.

Last I checked Perry was not that.

Pro Tip - Teams are allowed to make more than one move.
Ugh. It’s the same thing after every minor signing in the summer.

“Why would we sign this guy when we need X” like it’s not possible to work on more than 1 thing.

I’m not convinced Perry has enough left in the tank and if he does come here he and the team better be prepared for a media storm about whatever happened to end his time in Chicago but him signing would have absolutely no impact on the teams ability to address the defence.

Yeah that's why I expect he'll go somewhere like Florida or the Western US where he won't be in the spotlight as much.

Frank Servailli thinks Leafs or Red Wings would potentially be good fits because he lives in London in the off-season and potentially wants to be closer to home. He also said his son plays a factor. He son likes seeing him play with star players.

Why can’t we get Perry at league min and acquire defenseman? Leafs arent limited to one move.

I think Robertson to Philly for one or two of their defenseman is pretty much a lock

Detroit could make sense.

Where is this Philly thing coming from and who are we linked to?

Having Perry will increase our playoffs chance but do know that Perry had been a finalist for the Cup Finals three of the last four seasons and his team didn’t win. Maybe being a Leafs will break this curse.

There were some rumours Philly has been interested in Robertson. Toronto has been interested in a few of Philly’s dmen include Rasmus Risto.

With the acquisition of Drysdale and Philly having 8/9 defensemen on their active roster I could see that being a good potential trade partner. Nick Seeler and Sean Walker are guys I’ve heard thrown around in interviews, tweets, podcasts. Nothing official

Nope. He's a piece of shit. As far as team morale goes, refer to as recent as his short Chicago stint. Also, how do you think his act will go over with officials/DOPS while wearing a Leaf jersey?
This was when he played in Chicago…

or he wouldn't be able to and like all that have gone before him, end up with a black eye and leave fully frustrated saying something to the effect of "Its a great bunch of guy's but...."
True but he's a proven commodity, he's done it in for the Ducks, Habs, Lightning, Blackhawks, he only plays one way...even if his play doesn't translate to the rest of the lineup, it's still a piece we don't have.

I don't see how he'd ask for more than league min based on how his year has gone.

I don’t understand any ‘fan’ who wouldn’t want Perry in this teams 4th line because of ‘reasons’

I’m pretty sure I saw someone else mention Beetuzzi’s (what should be) private medical information, too? And make judgments about him being on the team.

Is the CHL going to ban drafting of American players now that they’ve invaded Syria? The IIHF going to strip them of their gold medal?

Chronically online is not healthy. I want to celebrate a cup before I die, I don’t care what someone does in their spare time

He would be the exact type of mentor and leadership this group hasn’t met yet in their own dressing room

Reflecting back on last years TDL we picked up SEVEN players, if you need to add SEVEN players to a roster of 20 ... that might tell a GM that maybe you just are not that close to a Cup. If you have to make a shit tonne of changes, you probably are not going to win the Cup. If you are picking up an impact top 6 guy or some depth in case of injury, might make sense to make those moves.

I fail to see the downside of this guy on our fourth line, on a small hit, one year deal.

There is no downside, unless you’re the type who wants to get upvotes or likes or retweets for trying to signal some sort of manufactured morality or virtue

But I also loved our crack smoking mayor, because I thought he had the right ideas and did a really great job as mayor. He could smoke all the crack he wanted as far as I was concerned. I didn’t vote for him because of what he did at home, I voted for him for what he did when he was at work.

If my job knew all of my darkest moments I’m sure it would be possible to paint me as a total monster. I’m glad to live in a world that doesn’t work that way
