Perry

I'm not against Perry coming here and making life miserable for our opponents.

My worry is along the lines of enforcement. He gets away with alot. But I'm not sure that will hold true as a Leaf.

For some reason, teams and players get away with so much. But if a Leaf tried some of that crap, they would get called.

I can't be the only one that sees it...

I want a gritty guy on the bottom six who can get into the heads of basket cases like Bennett, Tkachuk, etc. Just not sure if THIS is the guy I want.

It didnt require law enforcement. That eliminates alot of things one might be thinking of.
He probably had too much to drink one night and acted like a huge @SS towards his teammates and probably said some outlandish stuff.

Don’t really think it was any worse than that.

I think he would be an excellent contributor in our playoff run. Despite his drunken misdeed, I would welcome giving him a chance to help us win a cup. Who among us has not done something under the influence of alcohol we later regretted? Or watched as one of our friends got out of control. I expect Tre and Keefe would agree.

Reaves may not, because Perry would be Reaves' replacement, and Reaves has his supporters on the roster.

The stumbling block is Shanny and MLSE. They will do anything to avoid negative publicity even if it means losing. MLSE will not risk their reputation and alienating the female fans and the snowflakes if negative publicity about the incident or even a future minor incident became a front-page story. Perry couldn't even sit down in a Toronto restaurant without someone secretly counting his beers and watching his every move. He would need an off-ice disguise, lol.

Fair enough. I think he was also quoted way back when saying he would have liked to have been a leaf. Still though, it doesn't feel like the leafs could fit him in. Even with pridham at the helm of cap wizardry, it would expose a few guys (Mcmann, holmburg) to having to clear waivers. Plus, the leafs still technically have an over the hill agitator in reeves (who, in onto himself may result in those guys being exposed when he's back).

I hope that provides a bit more context as to liking the IDEA vs. The reality. If we could keep mcmann and get perry and somehow reeves just ltiretires... sure, maybe. That just probably won't be the case. Further, for any argument on a deferral with (arbitrary nonsense goal) performance bonuses... man, look at connor brown (who I genuinely like, is playing well on the pk.... but... Jesus).
I assume he's signing a league min deal at this point. Chicago overpaid this offseason and he didn't last until xmas. Prior to that he spent 3 years at a mill or less

Lock him in. The 4th line needs some pop. Perry in over Reaves/McMann would be bananas.

He will help get that line going offensively.

I feel it's more likely under new management than it would be with Dubas in the fold.

I think Perry would be good, specifically on the third line. With the amount of ice time our top 2 gets, this would be ideal.

Likely 9-12 mins a game. Great playoff line that can score some ugly and greasy goals.

Holmberg Matthews Marner
Knies JT Willy
Bertuzzi Domi Perry
McMann Kampf Janrcrok

Keefer thinks too highly of Jarnkrok to play him of the 4th line. Holmberg on top line will not last long IMO.

4th Line should be McMann Holmberg Perry.
But Keefe is gonna Keefe and keep softies like Kämpf and Gregor in the lineup.

Where did he say that?

It was just his speculation.

Elliotte Friedman on The Jeff Marek Show: "I wonder about Corey Perry and [the Oilers]...now that the NHL has basically said that 'we're not gonna have an issue with Perry signing anywhere', I kinda wonder if that would be one of the teams."
