I've rethought this. Maybe whatever he did wasn't totally egregious, the NHL obviously didn't think it wàs so bad

Nick would have to come out

We don't know why he was forced out of Chicago, It didn't sound good for him. Don't know if I want those kinds of question marks brought in to the room part way through the season.

If Perry becomes a leaf, how many games do you think until he’s suspended?

its all the off ice shit thats going on with him. That I mean by short leash. Anymore bullshit that comes up if hes here, whatever that is, hes gone. Well aware of what he can do on the ice.

No one knows what he did

He hasn’t had an indoor suspension since 2013 and the outdoor one was little harsh….probably game 2 of the playoffs, if they make it.

Where have you been the past few months? have you not read anything that has been said in this thread or in the main boards?
Yes, I have read everything, but no one has said what the issue was. There have been rumors obviously, but nothing definitive. your post suggests that you know.

Chicago has a few things in their history they want to move away from.

No one knows what he did, but with their history probably anything that would pile on, even if minor, isn't something they'd live with.

Without any facts I have no idea one way or the other.

He literally built his home in Ontario and published it online in 2020.

Fair enough. I think he was also quoted way back when saying he would have liked to have been a leaf. Still though, it doesn't feel like the leafs could fit him in. Even with pridham at the helm of cap wizardry, it would expose a few guys (Mcmann, holmburg) to having to clear waivers. Plus, the leafs still technically have an over the hill agitator in reeves (who, in onto himself may result in those guys being exposed when he's back).

I hope that provides a bit more context as to liking the IDEA vs. The reality. If we could keep mcmann and get perry and somehow reeves just ltiretires... sure, maybe. That just probably won't be the case. Further, for any argument on a deferral with (arbitrary nonsense goal) performance bonuses... man, look at connor brown (who I genuinely like, is playing well on the pk.... but... Jesus).

Then why all the fuss now?
I think, an incident involving alcohol automatically triggers enrollment into a substance abuse program as agreed to in the CBA. And because of this, there's some hoops to jump through before re-signing anywhere.

I think. Could be wrong

I don’t mind Perry, I just wish we had a Perry in his prime in our core. Plugging in Perry into our lineup now really does make little difference come playoff time. But, would I want him on our side instead of on the Bruins or Panthers? Definitely.

I don't want Perry and his off-ice baggage. Plus, I just don't see the on-ice value at this point. I know that Chicago is "horror-bad," but his stats this year didn't exactly leap off the page.

However, I didn't want Bertuzzi and his anti-vax nonsense either. And I maintain that he's grossly overpaid for what he brings to the table.

So I suspect that we'll be seeing Perry in a Leafs sweater by the end of the weekend.
