Perry of 3 to 5 yrs ago a is high priority ingredient for the Leafs. Good player that agitates the opposition, and he’s a winner.
Having said that, no way the Leafs would entertain bringing him in.
You forgot the R Y A N R E A V E S W O WNot gonna lie, Perry is a damn good fit for the Leafs. This team has a clear agenda for the playoffs and who better than Perry to re-shape the bottom 6 during the run? Perry, Bertuzzi, and Domi on the same team are pretty exciting.
He still has skill can play on the 3rd line if someone gets injured on the top 2 lines he can fill in .I say do it if he signs for league minimum. Despite the last saga, his rep in the room is good and he makes our fourth line instantly better. Go for it, hopefully this is where he wants to land.
He's already have been a Leaf if Dubas wasn't GM, he's wanted to come here before by all accounts. If Dubas was still the GM, I would agree, but Treliving I think has shown based on his signings so far to have a very different perspective.
If I'm not mistaken there was strong interest in 2020 but I think Perry was holding out hope for more money / bigger contract after his playoffs with Dallas, and we decided to just move on with Simmonds instead while Perry didn't sign until 2 weeks before the season started with the Habs. Oddly enough, Perry actually got waived to get sent down to the Taxi squad so that the Habs could be cap compliant, and nobody bothered to pick him up. As we know he had a solid season for them and performed well in the playoffs, going to the finals again that year. I do wish we had tried again in 2021, but with the Simmonds deal being 2 years it pretty much blocked us.He's already have been a Leaf if Dubas wasn't GM, he's wanted to come here before by all accounts.
You raise a good point. If Dubas was still the GM, I would agree, but Treliving I think has shown based on his signings so far to have a very different perspective.
You just know we won't get him and one of our foes does, he'll score in OT to knock us out. I mean, it's the Leafiest thing ever, it will happen.I'd like to get him just so no other Eastern Conference team can have him.
Also, he can probably provide some veteran leadership, who has won series and Cups. He plays tough, and knows what that's like.... The theory was, Reaves would provide that, but he's not been the leader, or winner that Perry has been. Perry would likely push our guys some, and probably would like to play near his hometown. It's something that makes sense. If it was Dubas who didn’t want Perry and not Shanahan then I think we’ve got a real shot here. Perry on the ice would add decent value but more importantly he’d be kept off our rivals in Florida and Boston which is equally if not more valuable than what he’d do here.
He won’t be able to get away with what he usually gets away with here but so long as he’s not getting away with murder against us that’s fine. And who knows maybe Perry’s veteran status and years of maturity will keep him from going over the line or getting called too much like with Bunting.
I could be wrong but I thought they were friends? Is Colaiacovo connected? Haven't really kept up with the guy. Is it possible he's extrapolating the "mutual interest" thing from previous rumours?
Because he adds value in the playoffs. Not hard to figure out….and if he doesn’t then he doesn’t play lolA whiny bitch who's almost 40, why do we want this guy ?
I don’t know what he did. So I certainly don’t know if it’s bullshit or not.its all the off ice shit thats going on with him. That I mean by short leash. Anymore bullshit that comes up if hes here, whatever that is, hes gone. Well aware of what he can do on the ice.
Because if he goes to Boston or Florida he will destroy us in the playoffs like he always doesA whiny bitch who's almost 40, why do we want this guy ?
I would like to think he’d reach out to Perry and vet him and if he passes their evaluation he’d be a terrific add.If Dubas was still the GM, I would agree, but Treliving I think has shown based on his signings so far to have a very different perspective.
His resume.A whiny bitch who's almost 40, why do we want this guy ?
But, Robertson might be the odd man out if the acquired Perry.Bottom 6 with Perry would be quite interesting.
Robertson-Domi-Perry

Have one line designed for offence and general assholery, and the other one for shutdown duties. Don’t think we’ve got the personnel as of now to actually pull this setup off, but finding a bottom six defence guy shouldn’t be too difficult or expensive at the deadline.
