having a goalie on a cheap deal makes a cheap goalie a very motivated goalie. Historically a lot of cup winning goalies were in a contract year or heading into 1 yr left where they signed that summer. The rangers are idiots if they go above their offer of 11 mil per.

We’ll see how that tandem performs when the games matter. Shesterkin is rocking a .930 SV% in the playoffs and is a huge asset the rangers can depend on.

As for Shesh. Insane imo to have turned down $88 mill. NYR shouldn’t be trading him before the tdl. So at most he can only sign for 7 years elsewhere. Have to get $12 mill to get to $84 and see where he is to get another year at the end of that deal for the other $4 mill.

The problem is just how long does it take a team to find a tandem like that and get lucky enough to pay them cheap? Could take years. Now ask yourself if James Dolan is going to patiently wait.
