So the league is allegedly buying the coyotes for 1 billion, then turning around and flipping to Utah for 1.2 billion? In what fking world is the yotes worth 1 billion let alone 1.2. Wtf am I missing???

Didn't Ottawa just sell for a lot less?

This is just the NHL trying to set a floor on franchise values of a billion. You'd think it would be a tough sell.

Geez you can google stock images of a phoenix and it’s Bette than 95% of logos out there

This is the winner I think. You should try to get it out there on social media.

Unfortunately I don't use any social media platforms. But I sure hope someone has the same notion as me and the idea gets some traction.

There's also the cool suggestion that a Phoenix rises from its own ashes. So it implies that a successful team now rises from its previous iteration.

Utah Phoenix even rolls off the tongue nicely.

So I'm still trying to figure out based on what we've heard... will the Salt Lake team be a continuation of the Jets/Coyotes franchise or will it be a new franchise with the Yotes held in limbo by the NHL?

I’ve said my peace for the Arizona part of this…I’ll miss them and have lots of good memories at Coyotes game and feel bad for the fans there. Hope you get that expansion team and hope AM isn’t involved. There’s so much to be bullish about in that market and the growth of youth hockey in the area has been real fun to watch.

I do expect to pull for the new Utah team…I think while not quite the Nords winning a Cup in year one in Denver that there is a ton to be excited about with this franchise. I think you’ve got a good GM in place, a great young coach, and all those draft picks and the rebuild is just now starting to surface. With a new owner eager to make his mark and draw fans right away, I also expect a bullish free agency this summer.

Utah is going to be a really, really exciting team next year. And, IMO, a very good one. The rebuild results becoming tangible combined with a new owner eager to make his mark and a new, super energized market…yeah, I’m definitely putting some action down on Utah for next season as a dark horse.

I don't think that's clear. I was reading something earlier that this isn't going to be like other relocations and the Coyotes will be considered suspended.

But all their players are going to the Utah team and so it will be treated as a brand new franchise with no history, despite players having history with a previous franchise that may return?

So say Utah has Clayton Keller score 50 goals in their first season, the Coyotes are suspended.

Coyotes come back in 2030 and Keller's stats are still there for the time, then it starts new with all the new players. It just seems so damn absurd. But the absurd nature of history and the NHL went out the window when the Winnipeg Jets were brought back and were not associated with the former team aside from logo and location. But for that they kept the Thrashers history upon the move, but I guess they didn't have to?

My vote then is still moving the Coyotes to Atlanta, keeping the history, and changing back to the Atlanta Thrashers to give everyone headaches when looking at historical stats.

Ottawa was 950 million.

Supposedly there is a 300 million relocation fee in there,

I think the league pays less, to recoup funds loaned to yotes, and sells to SLC for 1.2-1.3 billion.
