Gambling ads on billboards certainly aren't illegal here in Utah. Drive towards the Nevada state line and you'll see them everywhere.

Confirms that Meruelo will get exclusive rights to bring back the Coyotes. Honestly, I'm expecting him to try to sell those rights to someone else and just cash out.

That is also pretty amazing in this

Arizona has been the worst run team in the league and as a reward he gets that right.

Mis fit franchise from the get go. SLC is a far better venue for hockey and can grow the game with better capital and results to compete. Well my guess is the SLC shakers as the nick name.

I am holding off giving him any credit until it proves to be true… AM has a habit of being silent.. until him XG or the NHL confirms anything I need to see the final result before I give that guy credit . He has been wrong on most things with the Yotes

I am not saying he is but .. listening to Keller today they say they are hearing mostly stuff that is not true
like you quoting Gord Miller saying the players dont want to goto SLC. Still waiting on quotes from actual players. As if Gord Miller talks to players about that.

What’s the vibe in Utah ? I’ve never been interested to go there
Been here for a few years after leaving CA. People seem nicer. Drivers are just as bad. Food not as good. I personally enjoy the seasons. Still cheaper than CA. Women are better looking AINEC.

Edit: Mormons are all everybody talks about, but I hardly even notice it.

Sure, I don't see how that's relevant to my post. I wasn't arguing about that.

It's obvious the NHL wants another crack at Atlanta, but at that time they had to get out. And Winnipeg was ready on a short notice. Just like SLC is now ready on a short notice, and the NHL still wants to try the Arizona market in the future.
It's tiring that we have to keep defending why we deserve a nhl team when majority of hockey fans hates Atlanta for no god reason.

Been racking my brain trying to come up with team names. I don't really see the owners having them play under the Salt Lake City moniker, like the Utah Jazz. SLC has more naming options tho. So far:

Utah Eclipse
Utah Yuccas
Utah Storm
Utah Yellowjackets
Utah Ultra (or Ultraviolet)
Utah Owls
Utah Yeoman
Utah...

Pioneers
Mountaineers
Swarm
Sting/ers

Feel bad for Coyotes fans, it sucks to lose your team. The NHL tried its best to keep them there and ran out of options.

I hope this finally shuts people up about Quebec getting a team back though. If the NHL won't emergency relocate a team there . . . they aren't putting a team there.

Like..."if we don't have a team we don't care"? Basically...is hockey really that important if ya'll gonna quit the thing entirely just because a team moved? Do Arizona fans care about "hockey" or do they care about "having a team"?

I mean, i get the frustration and emotional involvement. But they could move my favourite team and i wouldn't just "quit the NHL" entirely. I'd probably be angry and find a new team. But to just give up on the NHL and hockey altogether? Really just raises the question of how much it ever really mattered in the first place. Which is the whole stereotype around Arizona in the first place...
Nice job assuming you know an inch about what I'm feeling. This is such a poor take. Your biases appear to be clear and showing.

I am one Arizona fan who doesn't even live in Arizona. My opinions are my own. Don't paint all of Yotes fans with a brush just because of what I say, jesus.

I'm not sure in what world fans of a team are obligated to love hockey as a sport more than their own team, or in what world fans are expected to follow their team if they move to a totally different state and change their name, jerseys, location.

If that's the case where are all the Winnipeg fans who were supposed to follow their team to Arizona? Seems like the vast majority of Winnipeg fans I've met on here hated the Coyotes for taking their team. Don't recall anyone ever accusing them of "not really caring in the first place".

I've met some good Winnipeg fans too, who did become Arizona fans, but that's not the norm.

And unlike Winnipeg, Alex Meruelo has lied to us as fans as has the NHL for weeks/months.

If they're gonna treat me like shit, I'm not going to be a fan.

I'll go back to supporting my junior hockey team and not giving a shit about the NHL.

I don't even know why I'm responding to this since you're arguing in bad faith and have already made up your mind about how the fans in Arizona apparently are.

Plenty of Canadian fans only watch their own team, same with the USA teams. Watching playoffs with other teams and watching junior hockey or tournaments and posting on a message board isn't the norm, but I don't see you shitting on the TML fans who only watch 10 games a season. People can enjoy their hobbies in whatever way they damn well please and you don't get to make them out to be less of a fan because they aren't hardcore hockey fans.

Than Canada should start another league similar to CFL

I think realistically you guys could get Quebec city and Toronto 2 but that's about it unless u guys get 100 million population.

They would put a team in Ubekistan before they put another one in Quebec City.

Still find the biggest opportunity to relocate, though I'm not in favor, to Atlanta and become the Thrashers.

The idea of explaining to someone that the Jets became the Coyotes then the Thrashers and the Thrashers became the Jets, but both original Jets and Thrashers franchises are not the same as the current ones and the records/history is different, would be hilarious.

Feel for Coyotes fans, but ownership and the area didn't seem to have it in them to make an arena work.

Skiing there is apparently amazing but according to my folks, bars and restaurants close really early there, especially on Sunday
Good luck getting a beer at 6pm on a Sunday evening
