I HIGHLY doubt they are giving up Yager or their 1sts. So unless Dubas unloads every prospect and pick we have, we win the trade because we are getting the better prospect. You HOPE your picks become what he is.

There were only like two returnss that would make me say "meh" and a 1:1 for Yager was one of them

That said, McGroarty helps sooner than Yager and very well could mesh well with Sid which 1LW is the current need.

Better position? McGroarty plays all three positions, Yager is a natural center (and a right-handed shot, which we don't have enough of).

McGroaty is a better prospect than Yager so I have a tough time being mad about the deal. I would have obviously preferred to keep Yager and also add McGroaty, but it’s really hard to complain about a 1 for 1 swap where you get the better prospect.

Definitely somewhat of a lateral move but I doubt there was anything else we could have offered the Jets to get McGroarty.
