It's baffling that some people want Karlsson traded.

I think the Karlsson trade was a win for us regardless of how the season turns out. Dubas took a big chance and unloaded a bunch of unwanted cap space for a guy that is a difference maker.

When Karlsson isn't on the PP, it's even worse, which is hard to believe I know. The issue isn't the player, it's the scheme. If you fire Sullivan, I feel like most of the major issues ailing this team, albeit age, will get fixed. I think you're Dubas, you head into the trade deadline with the mentality of only Crosby, Malkin, Rust, Letang and Karlsson are untouchable.
This is what's so infuriating about this whole situation. We're trying to figure out which players need to be traded and why they're not a fit without actually seeing what this roster could do with a new coach first.

Actually, infuriating isn't the word. Another word that starts with the letter 'I' is more fitting. It's idiotic.

so f***ing sad, testimony to this coach and this GM, 20 games to go and Pittsburgh is out...it did not have to be like this...30 games ago, 20 games ago, season ago, two seasons ago...yet no one dared to point the finger at the right place...

Oh more than a few people have been saying so for years, now. But were entirely ignored or called dummies by fellow fans because like... NHL head coaches are evidently infallible simply because they have "head coach" next to their name or something.

Because you have to take a hard look at this roster, at the farm, at the coach, and at the management and realize that they will not be a playoff contender next year either. It's not possible. They have nothing going for them.

And if they aren't contending this year, and they aren't contending next year... Then why keep a player like Karlsson?

To sell t shirts?

Pens need to start the rebuild now. Karlsson helps a rebuild by bring back assets. There should be no player that's untouchable right now. None. Otherwise you're only prolonging the years of suck.

God Canucks fans are insufferable. Every single Guentzel thread is just Canucks fans trying to lowball Penguins fans, as if there aren't half a dozen other teams interested in Guentzel.

"We're not trading Hoglander for a rental", okay good talk, then you won't be getting Guentzel.

Nashville opens up a wide range of possibilities. They have the space so there's no need for sending contracts back, they can offer the big extension, and they have a plethora of desirable assets.

Juuso Pärssinen would be the prize piece there but I think Nashville really likes him. That said, Nashville has 1st and 2 2nds this year and 2 1sts and a 2nd next year. Penguins could opt the pick route there quite easily and take back a guy like Trenin.

I could also see them wanting a couple guys of ours. They could easily add Smith as well.

Side note, Heinen flourishing as a 4th liner again in Boston while this team trots out Carter and Harkins every night.
and we were bitching about Heinen and ERod all while waiting to get the greatness of Smith, Cookie, Nieto, Harks, etc..

Why have ERod when you can have Big Jeff Carter for three years on a lucrative, unmovable contract though? Why... he might have even gone to the SWISS LEAGUE if they hadn't of done something!

I look at the number of cheap FAs that were signed this year and it infuriates me. Among those I was whining about: Sundqvist, Heinen, Sprong, Tatar, Nosek, Sam Steel, Suter, Fischer...

Blueger is also good with good wingers.

The fact that they just stopped scratching Carter and decided Harkins over Hinostroza forever is just mind boggling. Easily the stupidest coaching duo in the league right now is Sullivan-Reirden. Easily.

Obviously they've never seen Grampy Jimbo make one of his PF Chang's and warm cookies powered trades with golf club in hand.
