Lo-f***ing-l at someone on the main boards saying they wouldn't deal Hoglander straight up for Jake.

I remember my first beer ...
The issue with Jake is that he'll come with a giant contract if you wanna keep him.
Hoglander meanwhile nets you like .5 P/PG for 1.1 mil until summer 2025, and you still control his rights after that. It's really nice value.
Like even if Jake was just a UFA, idk if I'd wanna commit 9 mil AAV to him until he's 38.

"Nice value" at his shooting % does not get you Jake in a deadline day deal. Period.

Having a tough time narrowing down my waivers Mt Rushmore. Cal O'Reilly, Jansen Harkins, Matt D'Agostini, Zack Boychuk, Mark Arcobello, Taylor Pyatt, Matthew Philips
Lol, this is both a young and old post at the same time. Man oh man were there some dandies from 2005-2010 as well. Craig Adams...who stole money from this organization for the better part of 5 years.

lol at the posts getting removed in the Guentzel thread on the trade board.

I just wish Canucks fans would just shut the f*** up and let other fans give their opinions

Every thread is the same thing: them trying to convince Penguins fans their shitty offers are actually fair no matter how many times Penguins fans say no.

Stanley cup champion Craig Adams mind you! If winning a cup keeps coaches around past their expiration date it must work for players too…. I think I never disliked a player on my team as much as him… I remember every time he was a ufa id be like well at least he’ll be gone… only to see an alert later he’d reup for another two year deal

I agree that the Pens should not make that deal. They need picks, not Hoglander, and they have many suitors.
I'm just saying I think Hoglander's gonna play up to his AAV, while Jake will have problems doing so long term.

The Canucks are looking for a rental here though, I think. They can't afford to keep him. Makes me think they'll lose these sweepstakes.

It's adorable watching a fanbase of a team that hasn't mattered since I don't know when get all high and mighty. It'll be fun to watch them get bounced in the playoffs.

I don't even think Vancouver has attractive assets to pull off Guentzel in the first place, the only reason they're even talked about is the JR connection along with insiders saying they're interested. If not for that, I don't even think they'd be considered a serious contender for Guentzel because they obviously do not have the chips to get him.

Vegas and Carolina both make far more sense in what they have to offer for Guentzel. Both have good prospect pools and all of their 2024 picks, while Carolina even has an extra 2024 2nd.

Watch the Penguins trade Jake to Carolina w/ Staal as the centerpiece return then make eyes at the fanbase like they just did something amazing. "Member Jordan Staal, guys? MEMBER?!?"

This was posted in the Canucks forum from the Athletic:

“Donnie, I asked this morning if the Canucks are in on Guentzel, and I was told that they’re still poking around on everyone,” Dhaliwal said. “They don’t want to trade a first-round pick, so how do you get a big name without trading a first-round pick? Well, what you do is you put more prospects into a deal that is [for] a bigger name. But I’ve been told this morning that there is serious interest from Vancouver on Guentzel.

Dhaliwal confirmed that the Canucks aren’t interested in trading Jonathan Lekkerimäki or Tom Willander for immediate help.

That doesn’t mean guys like Vasily Podkolzin or Arshdeep Bains could be off the table — especially with the Penguins reportedly looking for players they can plug into their lineup right now.

“They’re pretty serious about trying to make something work with the Penguins,” Dhaliwal said. “[Podkolzin] gets called up, Bains gets called up for four games. I don’t know if Podkolzin is gonna be here long-term and is he getting a run for the rest of the year, Don? Or is he just getting four games like Bains, as well? Is he being showcased? The timing of him coming up, five days, six days before the trade deadline is interesting. And then you hear what the Penguins want, and I think I said this last week, they want two ready-made young players in the NHL today.”

Hogs+Podkolzin or Bains could be package but without the 1st, it's gonna be tough honestly.

But MAN could he make a terrific pot of coffee!
Nah, he used to buy from Starbucks when he and Disco Dan would have their little coffee dates to gossip about the team.

I will be a lot less friendly this time around if we get back Sutter 2.0.

Hoglander, Podkolzin, and a 2nd with SCF appearance to a 1st conditions is a good enough package for me.

They will need to give us something for cap which if it is Mikheyev is perfect work.

Vancouver seems like a crap-ass trading partner TBH.

Everyone looks at the JR connection. Why do we assume that's a good thing? Dude didn't leave under great circumstances and talked shit all the way out the door and for like a year+ beyond.

Anything they're "willing" to offer seems like we'd be settling. Not something you do when you have the premier offensive weapon that will be available at the deadline.
