I mean, LD definitely needs some tweaking, but what pieces do we have to make any moves with? Nobody's gonna want Dumoulin, Kap, or Heinen. We have no prospects of note save Smith, maybe. If it was JR maybe we'd be looking at a Rust trade or something, but I don't think we're gonna do anything.

I just don't see a scenario in which Rust waives his NMC. He's got it REALLY good, here.

EDIT: If JR were still here, I mean. I agree that THIS team will never even think of that possibility regardless of how bad it gets.

I don't blame him, but man, it would help if he decided all of a sudden that the West Coast was really the Best Coast and that nothing will stop him from realizing that goal.
The best addition the team could make to the blueline would be Letang figuring his shit out so he goes back to playing like he can, and not Melichar.
Well, yeah. But Letang's not exactly Mr. Self-reflection.

Get him a sports psychologist like the team had to do with MAF or something. Though the issue is probably a combination of Sully's usage, Letang's age, and that bravado you alluded to. Tough for a guy to ease into the decline and still be effective while being played 25 minutes a night by his coach, and his ego is telling him "bro you do crossfit, you are an animal, you don't have to change a goddamn thing bro".

I think it's time for Heinen and Kap to switch. See if Kap learned anything and give Heinen box seats for a bit. And McGinn has earned a promotion, at least temporarily.

Guentzel - Crosby - Rakell
Zucker - Malkin - McGinn
Rust - Carter - Kapanen
Poehling - Blugers - Archibald

I'm gonna be stoked when this team makes a mad scramble for the final four or five months of the season to secure yet another 1st round exit in a year that the draft is shaping up to be as good as it is.

My fear about addressing our LD as well is that if Hextall goes out and gets someone it might mean either POJ getting moved in such a deal or POJ getting relegated to the press box so the LD acquisition can play.

We all know if it's a choice between playing Dumo and playing POJ, it's Dumo every time.

Friedman said Hextall is "looking into things". Friedman joked Hextall hates rumors and that Friedman was going to have Felix Potvin live at his house for a week or two as protection.

Pittsburgh's looking around, trying to figure out what is out there. No positions mentioned.

While they were talking about Malkin's 1000th game, Friedman said that it has been in the contract of general managers in Pittsburgh that they could not trade Crosby or Malkin without ownership permission. Friedman said he's not sure if that's still the case, but it was for the longest time.

Should sell Dumo for a 1st and see if a team is willing to think he's a good dman. Maybe JR will sell his 2nd for Kapanen back. ;)
Should try and see if we can swing something like Rust for Tkachuk too. Either one, really, but Matthew preferably. Hell, see if the Preds will take CDS for Saros while we're at it.

Obviously the weird part is LD is the one place with a guy ready in the minors to play, so you’d think it would be a significant piece you’re looking at then.

CDS to Jets for Saros? why not Rust to Red Wings for McDavid.
I was gonna go for Hellebuyck but I switched mid-sentence because my goddamn tortellini were boiling over. This is all your fault.

To be fair, makes as much sense as trying to get a 1st for Dumo. I hope your wish is granted though.

I could have sworn he mentioned defense but I just re-listened and nope. Don’t get Mitsubishis folks the road noise is terrible.
