I don't really see a whole lot this team can/should do roster-wise, tbh. You just gotta hope Rust and Letang snap out of it and the goalie tandem doesn't crumble or suffer injury. That's it, really.

It’s funny how all the guys who hate advanced stats on the board are suddenly talking up Marino because of them.
I'm sure that's what the voices are telling pixies, at least. He's under attack from all sides, poor guy.
Just to make my stance clear...I'm not much of a Marino fan. Guys doing good but different team different useage. Good for him but Jack Johnson is clearly better...come on.

I think that's how most people feel, but anything short of complete condemnation for Marino and all he stands for is taken as raucous applause and calling Marino the next Lidstrom to pixies.

Dude's doing well. The Devils are killing it and relevant for the first time since Kovalchuk walked. Good for them. Who gives a shit?

-edit- The teams Pens fans should be paying attention to are the NY teams, tbh. I think the Devils and Canes are pretty much locks to make it, so it'll be between the Isles, Rangers and Penguins for those last two spots. Only time anybody should care about the Devils is if the Pens manage to limp their way into a playoff spot where they'd face NJ in the 1st round.

Easy Dumo and Kap for Horvat. JR can have his crew back. :)
I think JR's too preoccupied with having a tantrum and slap-fighting with Bruce to swallow his pride enough to deal with the team that treated him so rudely, tbh.

-edit- "Can you believe they had the nerve to shadow my moves as GM three years into a nonsensical spiral of incompetence?!"

I just don't see a scenario in which Rust waives his NMC. He's got it REALLY good, here.

EDIT: If JR were still here, I mean. I agree that THIS team will never even think of that possibility regardless of how bad it gets.
I don’t think we have much room to talk dogging on other GMs. Our front office just signed Kap to a two year deal this summer. For no reason…

When you qualify a player you are required to pay him a certain amount.
Then you don’t qualify. Just like the previous summer when the team pissed away almost $2 mill to qualify ZAR.

If JR made either of those decisions, he would have been destroyed on this site.

While they were talking about Malkin's 1000th game, Friedman said that it has been in the contract of general managers in Pittsburgh that they could not trade Crosby or Malkin without ownership permission. Friedman said he's not sure if that's still the case, but it was for the longest time.

As it should be. This doesnt come as a surprise to me at all. Those are franchise altering moves, ownership should be involved. I guess the only interesting thing is that this was a a black and white rule and not an informal "dont do this" during hiring.

JR acquired Kapanen. Kapanen is a 30+ pt player under the Penguins. Sullivan’s usage of him is moronic.
I don’t know. Kap actively hurts his line when he isn’t scoring/creating chances for himself with his speed. He’s shown early this year for the people who thought he could PK that he cant. I’d maybe play him for Heinen at the moment but Heinen is still positionally more reliable than Kap in the situations the coaches are using Carter/McGinn. That leaves Archibald which, sure, id play him over Archibald but I see why they don’t when he can’t PK and would make the Blueger line worse defensively.

Friedman said Hextall is "looking into things". Friedman joked Hextall hates rumors and that Friedman was going to have Felix Potvin live at his house for a week or two as protection.

Pittsburgh's looking around, trying to figure out what is out there. No positions mentioned.

What kinda idiot ever would have wanted to trade Crosby or Malkin anyways? Even JR was never that senile
