Kap's a dipshit, but he's not really outright hurting the team when he's on the ice. Just leaving fans and coaches wanting a lot more production and effectiveness out of him.

DOC is that, while also hurting the team when he's on the ice.

It's now been 20 straight games without a point from the beloved golden calf DOC, going back to last season. Not even like, an accidental point.

Well yeah because O'Connor isn't very good.

I can't support your suggestion for the defense, it's just too similar to what the Penguins have been running with for years.
Kapanen actually produces in the NHL. DOC doesn’t. Just because Mike Sullivan has no clue how to use players that don’t move in a straight line down the ice fast doesn’t mean no name college players are better.

Jake - SId - Rakell
Zucker - Geno - Rust
Heinen - Carter - Erod
McGinn - TB - Archi
Zohorna

Petts - Letang
Rutta - Marino
Math - Lyubushkin
Poj

Jarry
Smith

400k under cap

That is a very different and improved defense. Forwards are just as good with DOC and Poulin as depth

Rutta isn't a regular LD and I think that defense is still pretty suspect.

It's swapping Dumoulin and Ruhwedel out for Rutta and Lyubushkin. I just don't see that as a notable change or changing out the problems from the old defense.

I think it helps a lot. Dumo is a much worse player than Rutta right now but whatever really. hindsight is 20/20 I think the biggest issues is the carter signing. That was bad the day it happened

Jake - SId - Rakell
Zucker - Geno - Rust
Heinen - TB - Kap
McGinn - Poehling- Archi
Zohorna

Iti s a younger, faster cheaper bottom 6 without much drop off. I just think the carter contract was terrible timing and unnecessary.

Dumo's deadweight. Kap's deadweight. McGinn's deadweight. Blueger's redundant. Sully's misusing $10 million in cap with Rust and Rakell. Zucker's good to miss 40 games a year. Petry looks like a big flop so far. Jarry's set to get a big new contract.

Cap situation's a bit muddy, to say the least.

Wonder if somebody like Ekholm could become available if Nash keeps sliding

Everyone enjoying the second year of Krapanen’s contract yet? You know, the one I bitched about all summer and said we should have qualified him, to which I got strong pushback from some?

Or how about Brock Mc-BrockStar-Ginn? Bitched about him all summer as well. He’s not bringing a damn thing that a league min player could bring. I advocated using a pick to trade him.

For the cost of those 2 guys, we could have signed a $6M player.

I think we suck and I am ready to embrace it.

Sid had a vintage Crosby performance though.
And GCRDL with the vintage backbreaking goal against from being clueless in their own zone.

Zuck, Kap and Poehling looked good, and Joseph continues to quietly be above-average.
But in the end, shrug. We won't win anything with Letang, Dumo and Petry being so bad, and PP1's incompetence.

It's kinda disappointing how shitty DOC has been. He's the vintage AHL tweener I guess. Does well there but can't translate it here. It honestly seems like he lacks hockey sense to succeed at the NHL level.

At least we got DOC.

DOC's basically a meme and that's when I knew he was going to be terrible here.

I don't know if it's disappointing, because I think it was pretty well telegraphed from miles away. That's why the whole DOC vs. Zohorna thing was frustrating because at least Zohorna managed to do something in the NHL. Neither of them would be able to right this ship though.

I tried to revive the DeSmith extension thread, but got an error message.

People were defending DeSmith even more than Sully when he was extended.

Sully is awful with young players, however, DOC has been given enough chances to show he is an NHL player. He isn’t good.

I’ve never understood the love for this guy on this site. Try other players.
