Alright, so how does this team solve the issue of Dumo being a tire fire and the team needing two defensive-minded LD in the top-4?

Petts might be the answer to a Dumo vacancy. I don't know that POJ-Petry is anything but a heat-seeking missile aimed directly at POJ's confidence, ready to obliterating all the good progress he's made and confidence built through 10 games.

I've heard Rutta can play LD, but I don't know how comfortable or effective he is there. Still leaves the issue of having Smith waiting in the wings for a spot on the 3rd pairing, but with Dumo, Petts, POJ there's really no spot.

I hate to even bring it up because everybody's suddenly a Marino superfan, but a POJ-Marino middle pairing and Smith-Rutta as the bottom pairing seems kinda nice right now. Petry's been a tire fire himself, despite Petts' pretty even-keeled play.

Marino is having success because they got him a big tough guy who is a stay at home D in Graves.

Marino's best season came when he was lined up with JMFJ.

Serious question, when do we consider tanking? I’m hearing this draft is the best since 2015. Those top 3 guys are game changers and could help Sid/Geno right away.

Sid will never be part of a tank job. He's a reserved guy but if that happened? He'd probably go ape s***.

I feel like the Penguins have been f***awful around the net since the days of Scuderi-Gill. :laugh: Even when they had Orpik, Engelland and Bortuzzo back there, other teams have always just had free reign in the slot and around the net.

People calling out random players should stop. When a team is garbage it's amazing what a new voice does.

I think people would be shocked at the kind of turn around guys like Kap and Petry could have.

It is so much to ask to have a 1st pairing guy that's like a semi pro bare knuckle boxer?

Someone that would lay out a couple guys and then the net crashing just stops.

Also side note:

I find it comical that this year Sullivan doesn't have Jarry playing at vezina level to counter his bad coaching.

Jarrys playing like a 3.5M goalie and it ain't helping the coach.

Man officiating is so off the wall bad and inconsistent, I genuinely have no idea anymore. :laugh: You can see Trouba tee off and fire about 9 shots right to Jake's mouth and go without a call, but Letang can shove a guy away from his goalie and get 5 and a game.

He's being used pretty close to how he has over the course of his career. A tick fewer offensive zone starts but that was expected with Letang here.

We've overhauled our roster a few times now. Same result. Maybe it's time to address the constant first before we start moving key pieces out and hoping the new pieces are the answer.

Yeah pretty much this. Not everything will be solved but we will have a better understanding what needs to be fixed to improve the roster when a new voice/change is here. What's happening now is not working and they regressing. New players here wont fix a thing when the same players are doing the same things, we need something different or you will get the same ol same ol. You need new coach AND new players like when we got Sullivan and had some key trades happen. Right now everyone is on auto pilot and zoned out.
