That wouldn’t surprise me and I hope it’s not the case. It’s weird the team is being so quiet on it.
It's the Penguins. Short of an obvious decapitation or severed limb witnessed by a national television audience, everything is just an upper or lower body injury.

My guess is that the Penguins will bump McGinn back to L4 and play Poulin on the 3rd line with Kapanen and Carter. Caggiula will be sitting as the emergency forward.

this makes the most sense. Also in terms of development. Id rather have Poulin learning from Carter than Poehling and Archibald.

You said Puusy played. He was called up and he did not play as I stated. Then he got called up again and played.
My point was that Poulin won't get called up and not play? If they call him up, he'll play. He's not gonna sit. Imo.

Feel bad for Tyler Smith. He doesn't belong in Wilkes.

The issue is that there's only 1 spot between him and POJ and POJ's not playing badly enough to lose out on the role. They'll have D injuries sooner than later and Smith will come back up, but I do want to see him as soon as possible.

The interesting thing to watch is to see if POJ's trade market can develop at all. He hasn't played amazingly well to increase his value, but he's also showing that he can play a regular role in the NHL. It's still early, but more competent games in the NHL will ease the "we don't know if he's NHL ready and we'll have to waive him if he's not" concerns that other teams have.

You hope he goes from that Juolevi/Pouliot tier (former top prospect with waiver eligibility and questionable NHL talent) to the Siegenthaler/Pettersson tier (young NHL D stuck in a numbers game), it's just a question of how long that will take with him.

Don't feel like there will be a lot of rush on a move right now for the Pens given that they're 4-0-1. I imagine Hextall will just keep rolling with this roster for a while unless someone makes a big POJ offer.

The other thing is it's inevitable that someone gets hurt at some point on d. Smith will eventually get his chance whether Hextall makes a move or no

I don’t think POJ was ever in that Juolevi/Pouliot position.

Smith dominating the A might be the second best thing beyond really crushing the NHL since his second season seemed to be a story of sunk confidence.

If Ty Smith spends the entire season in the AHL because the Penguins stay healthy on left defense and because POJ plays well, it doesn't hurt anything.

The Pens can just make a decision in the offseason on whether to re-sign Dumoulin, trade Pettersson, or trade POJ to make room for Smith.

When Crosby finally passes on to his great reward (hopefully 60+ years from now), the Penguins will officially declare him month to month with a whole body injury.

Caggiula will be the extra/emergency player. Poulin will play.

And agree with others on Smith. Yeah, he should be here but there's only one spot for him and POJ and POJ isn't eligible for WBS.

Not really because the Pens like to reward prospects for good play with a cup of coffee and a hardy well done lol…if they want to keep him at center then they have move Poehling off center and he’s played well, so why would you move Poehling mid-trip unless injury forced it…the only way I see Poulin slotting in is if another forward was injured last night that they’re just not telling us about lol
You don’t like Sullivan’s reward for prospects of coming up to play six minutes a night, best case, with whatever veteran garbage we have on our bottom line?

I would bet on a longer road trip, both might get a game. Caggiula is called up just in case Poulin bombs in his first NHL game(s).

I don’t think the team wants to trade POJ. Best case is he sticks and they’re giving him that opportunity.

People make jokes about age but are eager to move a kid that could be a cheap, young regular defenseman. Him being signed for next year at a 6 figure hit could be huge.

These next 2 might be our toughest opponents all year. The Oil outscored us 10-3 last season and Markstrom completely shut us down.

It's a huge adjustment after facing some minnows.

Let's see how good this team actually is.
Hopefully we’ve decided to play professional hockey for more than 20 min in both these games…

Yeah, pretty much this.

The Pens want to have an extra forward for the long-distance road trip (back-to-back games in Western Canada means there's no guarantee that a player can make it in time if someone gets injured in the first game).

Poulin being the one called up as the extra gives Sullivan options in case of injuries while rewarding Poulin with NHL pay even if he doesn't get in a game (ELCs are two-way deals, after all - even just a few games of extra pay is a significant increase for him).

We dodged a bullet with all the talk about us trading for JT Miller, it seems. The more you see what's going on in Vancouver and the more he opens his mouth, it looks like he's just a complete D-bag that would probably upset locker room balance more than his play would help on the ice.
