Win tomorrow in regulation = 2nd place + 2 points back of Jersey.
The cream is rising to the top. 🐧
Would be nice but I don’t think we’re winning tomorrow unfortunately…I look at this stretch as not one game but as six games for the remainder of December against our Metro foes, plus Detroit…we’re going to need a regulation win in four of those games for that to be a solid stretch…

What game do you ever think we are going to win Andy?

Pens are no pushovers here. Are they due for a muh game, probably as it happens during the season. But I think the Pens are rolling and they expect to win games and are playing with confidence. Canes will be up for the Pens and I believe they see the Pens as a game that provides confidence if they win.

They’re playing their best goalie against us today lol…Pens should treat the Canes the same as we rarely beat them and the Canes haven’t lost in regulation in the last 10 games! Games against Canes, Rags and NJD this week and next should tell us all we need to know about the Pens chances in the division…

The puck's at a diagonal from Rust and Forsling is going purely north and even takes his eye off the puck to deal with Rust. For Rust to maintain a direct path to the puck contact is inevitable, unless Forsling adjusts his line.
The puck was slowly going to the middle, yes, but the only reason it got so far is because the contact slowed them down.
I'd make my point more clearly with MS Paint, with lines and arrows. Anyways, agree to disagree I guess.
Your point isn't applicable, this isn't a static play where paint is going to tell the story in a photo.

Forsling would have met up with the puck if not for Rust. It is not like Rust had a semi breakaway here, he caused the contact, and Forsling was going where the puck was going to be. It's clear as day Rust cut into Forsling.

I think JVR could be a good add for us to be honest. I have him flagged as someone who won't cost a ton we might target to add depth to our top nine. Nyquist is another one that could be a cheap older add.

I don’t want to add more 30+ players unless it’s an elite player like P.Kane

His production and possession driving have been pretty solid considering the mess of a team he's been on, last three years. Age doesn't really matter for one playoff run.

I don't feel him as a system fit given the bottom six's current make-up and usage, and even at 50% retention fitting in 3.5m will be hard, but other than that I don't see a lot of reason to hate the idea. The point that we could use top six injury insurance isn't a bad one at all.

Why exactly?
Uh, we’re the oldest team in the league and we look slow against young teams, including our competition in the Canes, Devils etc…I want someone who skates really well…I think Zucker has played better in Sullivan’s system than JVR would, although he’s a good scorer when he goes to the net…he probably has better hands than Zucker…if we’re going for a winger, I’d rather someone who’s really Good at driving a line and particularly zone entries on the PP

JVR could be a fit on L2 but I dunno... it's so tough to tell on such a bad team but he seems like just another half-plug, to me. Getting a little tired of glorified third liners occupying L2 wing slots at this late date when ancient hoary old Geno could use some real help but I'm not gonna tire everyone with that whole rant again, today.

We haven’t played the Devils.

We played the Canes once and lost to them in OT.

It’d be nice to add a play driving winger, but there will likely be one or two of those available and their costs will be astronomical. I’d sell the farm for Meier, but I think our GM is going to pull another small move like he has the past two seasons.

And tbh. Look at Rakell and Carter’s impacts way better than any home run UFA deal we’ve done at previous deadlines.

I think if we bring in JVR it’s as a 3rd line player and further depth if Jake or Zucker go down.
