I suppose in hindsight you would have preferred them to sign top level goaltending four deep? Seeing as how an extremely unfortunate rash of injuries concentrated on just their goaltending depth wiped them out?

If you want to gripe gripe about the team letting a 3-1 lead go "poof" -- not goaltending. Of COURSE Domingue was bad. It was a miracle he did what he did, frankly. Every team's goaltending that deep is going to be bad. Or maybe gripe about how trash it is that this league lets guys just run around in the playoffs headhunting.

Sully created a soft team that isn’t allowed to play physical.

I don’t want to bring back DeSmith, who has had the same injury in two straight playoffs. There is a reason why he was affordable. You get what you pay for.

For the caliber of players they have, the Penguins are dramatically underpaying for the Crosby/Letang/Guentzel/Rust/Jarry group. And I'm guessing Malkin will be joining that group shortly as well.

The issue is that they don't really have that many depth guys who are underpaid and they have a lot of depth guys that are overpaid.

I don't entirely disagree with this sentiment, but I don't think we've got a lot of great options if he's not here. It's go and pay UFA prices for a different goalie, trade for someone's goalie they don't want, pay cheap UFA prices for a goalie who looks less voodoo and more buried at the crossroads...

If Jarry has another All Star season, paying him gracefully looks the strongest option in a lot of ways.

I feel like this is all kinda information we could have inferred but it's interesting to see nonetheless.

I'm curious about the "be active in FA" angle, though. If they're not trading Zucker and they want to bring back Rakell and Malkin, there isn't really many spots on the roster to "be active in FA" with.

I would trade Marino bring in Manson. Maybe dumo or petts too. They need some change on the backend

I like TJ a ton. I defended him a bunch through the MM fiasco and such. But once he asks for over 6M and term....

Based on the last 2 days from Chicago - 'whatever's necessary' might not mean what some may think for the likes of P.Kane.

Hell - I've always held a slight grudge to Toews with the overratedness...but he would be a HUGE get on this team. Maybe bigger than Kane tbh.

I feel the same way. It is kind of surprising how much attention is being put on the 5th round pick. There seems to be a ton of social media stuff. Maybe that is bc the last few drafts have been virtual, but it is making me feel as though the org thinks they have something special.
