Off season time. New thread time apparently cause @Ugene Magic doesn’t like high page counts.

So how about them Malkin and Letang UFAs? Maybe we should sign one or both.

Geno thread. Keep Geno talk here:

Malkin's not going to take a four year deal below 6M and he shouldn't. Madden's takes were absolute shit, including his post that Malkin is a 'bullshit artist'. Seems personal and very unnecessary.

And it sounds like Malkin's not going to take a 4 year deal at $6 million either, considering Seravalli seems to suggest that was the Penguins most recent offer.

Madden has been running Geno out of town for a decade. He would have always been calling the next step. He has no idea whats going on.
I think it's a bit of column A, a bit of column B, to be honest. Madden's a shock jock who makes a living off of posting shit people will engage with one way or another. That post is wishful thinking on Madden's part, but I do think there's probably a decent amount of truth behind it.

Anyone who ever thought Geno was gonna take a huge paycut needs to realize he's been making $10 million a year for the past 8 years. Dude was never not about money.

This is the risk of trying to squeeze every dollar. If Malkin does go to the open market, his price will jump. Even if the offers are from the likes of Detroit and Buffalo, it'll increase the AAV.

I just don't believe that any of the existing free agents provide the offense that Malkin does ar the price he should have been coming in at.

If Hextall had offered $7 million over 3 years to start, we wouldn't be here. Or even if they had jumped to $6 million over 4 or something along those lines.

I have a sneaking suspicion they offered $5 or $5.5 million over four years and Geno said no. And frankly, I don't blame him.
Malkin already knows what the offers out there are. There’s no new info to be had on July 13th. This is a last minute charade or goodbye.

Welp...maybe he just wants to counter the Pens with an offer(s) he will get from other clubs? It's just weird timing with him being 36 f***ing years old.

I'll miss you big guy.

I still remember that family trip frantically checking the internet as you disappeared in Finland.
I remember the Brodeur goal
The Sid high ankle sprain when you lit it up and made it known you were a co-equal. The Ovechkin game. I was making alumni donation calls in 2009 and crying like a baby because sales sucks (I admire the crap out of sales people), but seeing you on the box score with two huge goals made it better.
2011-2012 when you ran roughshod through the league
Your hatty against the Rags in the playoffs in 2014. Including that sick rebound turnaround goal.
Your great play in the cup runs
Your run with HGH
Defending you incessantly when Kessel went full parasite on us
Your subsequent confirmation of greatness with GMR

Legend and your jersey belongs in the rafters soon. Good luck.

Malkin at 35,36,37 or 38 was not going to win us a cup in the next 3-4 years...can we please get younger...and if you insist on blaming someone..how about his agent and his wife

Say report is accurate— you’re risking Sid saying f*** this shit one day too
So what? Once again, Malkin is incapable of staying healthy and not close to what he once was when he even is on the ice, and he’s only going to decline further once the wheels really fall off. 80 games of Trocheck and Rakell is far better than 40 games of Malkin and an anchor contract.

Anyways, if shit goes sideways then we trade Sid to somewhere where we can watch him have a real shot at another cup, while jump-starting our rebuild. 90% of you want to clutch on to Malkin and Sid until they’re 45, running the team down into the dirt into the process, for no reason other than puppy-like attachment.
