The Pens can't afford a Geno-level replacement like Kadri.

Spending less on a player like Trochek only works if he's brought in as a wing on a second line that has a Geno-level center. The only people who can suggest Trochek as a Malkin replacement with a straight face are yinzers.

The 2C spot doesn't matter without a Forsberg-caliber winger addition, imo. It doesn't matter if Geno's back if the default is Zucker-Geno-Kap. Hell, it doesn't matter if Kadri's brought in if it's Zucker-Kadri-Kap.
