A friend from Philly was saying carter is still pretty loved by chunks of that city, wonder if he’d waive to finish where he started. They have no forwards, no chance at winning, and cap space, and he’d get more playing time in Philly for his last season and the flyers could use the minor pr boost for what’s going to be a crap season for them.

let carter straight up Reggie Dunlop that shit, didn’t they already hire leclair and jones to work with briere, why not carter?

can you still John leclair a contract? Mutually agree to terminate it? If so, if it’s a 35 plus does it stay on the books?
can the pens just leclair carter and transition him to a non player position?
I’m not even in the United States at the moment. If Carter was willing to waive to go to Philly in a trade. I’d fly the day and half journey to personally escort and hand him over to the Flyers.

There's been nothing negative to say about Dubas whatsoever in the first month. He even got an honorary doctorate while y'all were studying Pens x

Vancouver fan coming in peace.

So now that you got Smith, you're thinking also about getting Ullmark and retaining Zucker.. so, what kind of an offer would you give to Vancouver with Granlund and Petry going back? We have space to take on dollars, cheap depth guys to send back, etc.. getting Granlund might save us from signing a 3C off the UFA for too long a term, and maybe, just maybe, he could work out in Van, mentoring Aatu Räty on the side.. make it worth our while and it might be an interesting idea.

Shipping Petry out doesn't really make sense for the Pens right now unless we have another top-4 RD coming in. We're more focused right now on filling the hole that Dumoulin will leave on 1LD. On the left side we do have POJ and Ty Smith waiting to come up, but we will likely still need another piece like Graves in UFA to fill out the D and account for injuries during the season. All of that makes Petry that much more important for us to retain, unless it's a D for D swap.

Granlund, you can have for a bag of pucks.

How about Granlund, Petry and a 2nd for Philip DiGiuseppe and Tyler Myers? You'd still have the same number of veteran Dmen, a versatile cheap bottom 6 forward and save a ton of cap space.

I know you are coming in here with good intentions, but that truly boggles the mind the Pens are adding a 2nd in that proposed trade.

Luckily for you guys, Myers only has 1 year left on his contract.

I think the guy is looking for a king's ransom to take Granlund. Sorry, not happening.

LeBrun the market for Hellebuyck is not developing at all, so Winnipeg may end up keeping him until the start of the season. The Devils are still interested, but they don't want to pay a huge price for him. LeBrun hasn't mentioned any other teams in on Hellebuyck.

I don't know what Dubas is thinking regarding the goalie situation, but it really seems like he's not in on Hellebuyck.

I think we all kind of knew he wasn’t going to be. I feel like a lot of it was wishful thinking. Between the cost to acquire him and the cost of his extension I’m not sure it was ever a real possibility. I know Fillipponi is a dweeb but it wouldn’t shock me if the main goalie target is Ullmark. He’s another guy that fits the mold of taking advantage of a cap strapped team which is really what I think Dubas wants out of a trade. Outside of Ullmark I have no idea what he could be thinking

Dubas should sit tight and wait for the goaltender market to develop. There is no need to be ahead of this when the market is as quiet as it currently is. Clearly, NHL teams are now scared shitless about the goaltending position, and rightfully so. I am sure teams are calling Dubas and trying to swindle him based on his team's current depth chart. Do not fall for it.

Two goaltenders I have my eye on are Askarov and Knight. They fall in line with what Dubas said about guys who either have not quite broken through yet (Askarov) or are considered reclamation projects (Knight).

Also, there are several options starting on July 1. I would be working on the blueline first. And then the secondary and tertiary scoring depth.

So Ullmark has almost identical numbers to Jarry in the playoffs over their careers, and Ullmark just won the Vezina which Jarry has never even sniffed… we get it, you are the President of the Jarry fan club and nothing is ever his fault and he can’t do anything wrong (even when he passes the puck directly to the other team to cost the Penguins a playoff game that wasn’t his fault to you). Give me the guy who just put up Vezina numbers over the guy who tails off after the All-Star break every season

It wouldn't surprise me if they're still holding the "keep Jarry and replace DeSmith" option in their back pocket.

I'm not crazy about the idea due to Jarry's consistent end of season regression, but Dubas may be hesitant to let an established goalie like Jarry go after all of the goaltending issues he had in Toronto. Keeping Jarry is a less bad outcome than the goalie carousel that Toronto has had in the last few years.

Pray tell, what inside information you have to disprove that JC and Poehling aren't penciled in as the 3 and 4 Centers?

To your point I think that’s in their back pocket as as a last resort. I think between today and tomorrow he tries to trade for a goalie and if nothing works out he might circle back to Jarry and his camp. I also am not crazy about the idea but I agree that it’s at least something that is being kept in his back pocket

I also don’t get why everyone would be against Zucker coming back IF it’s a very team friendly deal. I mean if Zucker likes the situation and doesn’t want to leave and would sign for 3 years $10.5 million why would people be mad about that? Age shouldn’t matter to this team as much as having good hockey players should. Zucker coming back on a deal like that helps create depth that is desperately needed. That means you have one of Zucker, Rakell, Smith or Rust on the 3rd line. Why is that a problem?

I think we can take Hellebuyck off the table for now, Chevy always tries to squeeze max value whenever he does make a trade and Dubas isn’t a guy who’s gonna sell the farm for a goalie.
