I really don't see how Rust's play this year has been defensible and even in the little of this game I saw, he's just been AWFUL. Trade his ass, even if you have to HS him for half a season to do so.

Just turned my phone back on from airplane mode. Got a text from a friend who was at the game. Said a fat yinzer in section 208 launched a completely full beer that almost reached the ice after the 3rd goal, then started multiple "F*** Hextall" chants, which eventually divulged into a "F*** you" chant before the guy left.

The tragedy is that I predicted this. Not just the loss but the blowout.
The Pens could have been resting and clinched had they not blown those games against the Islanders but nope instead they put themselves into a situation where they also got to get embarrassed by one of the worst teams in the league with control of their playoff destiny on the line.
They're out tomorrow because the Islanders are not losing to Montreal.
Gifted a final 2 of Chicago and Columbus and they shit the bed. This is the evolved version of the find a way to not just lose but lose embarrassingly version of the Pens that began on 2018.
What a way for the playoff streak to end

Credit to Sullivan for being consistent with Jeff Carter, saying he had a role to play on this team! Carter got every chance and a little more, and in the end he FAILED BIG TIME!

For clarity, since I'm re-reading and realizing how I might've been misinterpreted, I mean "doing right by Sid" would've been nuking *this team's* FO and coaching staff in 2020 to give the Pens some semblance of a last shot or two. Now it's too little, too late, and the damage has been done.
At best, this team's fighting for a WC spot and getting booted in the 1st annually. Especially when they lock up Jarry this summer.
Off-ice stuff cratered his season. I don't even really blame Letang, but it's entirely fair to criticize his play this season. It was abysmal, and I'm sure he'd agree.

That GWG is our entire season in a nutshell:
- allowing a goal right after another goal
- an ill advised pinch by a D-man who will do very little even if he wins the puck because he is offensively inept, so he should take as few such chances as possible
- a goalie swimming in net and getting scored on from behind the net
- everyone puck watching around the net. It didn't matter this time but on watching the replay is funny how none of the four Pens is covering the lone Hawk in a good scoring position
It's truly incredible how mentally weak this team weak. Not only does it give up decisive goals like candy in the third period but it rarely fights back after that, even against teams who are practically begging to be scored on. It plays well when all seems lost, then when things look good, it's back to sucking. Did anyone and I mean anyone think that this PP at 3-1 was going to result in a goal and a comeback? Or even just a goal? I suspect not.
Joke is on me for thinking they might rally and make the playoffs because the opposition is a joke too. I guess we are the biggest joke after all. There should be a new expression - to pull a Penguins. Our only hope for the playoffs is the Isles pulling a Penguins tomorrow. Oh, wait, we would lose to Columbus then, never mind.

Sullivan is a joke and should be ashamed of himself but he is apparently incapable of self-reflection so I'm not holding my breath. So glad I stopped watching months ago. It was obvious where this was heading. Sorry all of you who stayed invested had to suffer through that.
