Post-Game Talk: Pens lose to the worst team in the league

I was just surprised he didn't swap Rakell and Rust back at some point because it was apparent from the get-go that this was going to be another loafing night for Bryan. You can always tell because he looks like he's going to seriously forecheck, gets close to his guy, and then inexplicably turns and skates away when the puck is within his reach. He basically pretends to forecheck.
Bryan Rust now believes he is a superstar. That’s the issue. He believes he’s an elite level talent. In reality the only thing he is elite at is leeching off guys like Sid and Geno.

Sid in any NHL jersey that isn't a Pens jersey is objectively disgusting
Not sure why, do you want him here at age 41 and that's missed the playoffs for six successive seasons? Don't see how that helps the Pittsburgh Penguins or him as an individual.

Absolutely, I want his sorry ass out of town so feel free to block me. And any of you other blokes feel free. But I told you guys for the last couple years this was not a very good team, now you see the folly of your ways.
Sorry ass? lol

They lost probably around 24 games in 3rd period alone in which they were tied or had a lead. This was just another one of them. I can name many many others, but there is no point in it, must be some kind of record- Even if they got it to overtime, there would have been big hope. But no. For a millionth time this year, they lose a game in 3rd period in a regulation. This is on Sullivan too. Such a mentally weak team. It would have been the same in playoff overtimes too. They just can´t handle big tense moments. At all. And this is supposed to be an experienced team.

I want to see this teams best captain (different than best player) ever, retire a Penguin

Even from and outside perspective, seeing Alfy and Modano and Brodeur play their last season with different teams was so f***ing lame

I've listened to the game on the radio a few times over the last couple of weeks. Borque has come as close as I've heard to someone in media, Pittsburgh or otherwise, to criticizing Sullivan. It's baffling.
Some of it is local beat writers will praise the team no matter. Then the rest see Sullivan contract and think to themselves, it’s at worst a 50/50 shot this guy is still around for a couple of more years. I do not want to shit where I eat and get lessened access to the team. I don’t like it. But I understand it.

Is it really more shitty to watch Sid playing for an organization that gives a shit, wherever that may hypothetically be, than watching him play alongside a leech in Jake and a complete slug in Rust, and finishing like 10th in the conference until he retires?

I don't give a shit about other organizations. I want this teams best Captain to retire here. Call it what you want, I like "storybook" endings in sports

Mario retired a long long time ago and he did finish his career as a Pittsburgh Penguin so, no worries!

I don't block anyone cause I'm a man of culture.
You sir are a man after my own heart.

That's the thing that confuses me more. I posted on reddit that "even had Hextall built the surrounding cast well, this team would lose in the 1st round like they have for years" and it got downvoted. Like what team are you watching that you magically thing this team is anything special?

I really think Penguins fans are absolutely delusional with the state of this team. They've lost in the 1st round for 4 straight years and are likely going to miss the playoffs this year. Yet everything outside of Hextall is fine? You're at least starting to see some criticism thrown at Sullivan, but it's substantially less vocal than the criticism thrown at Hextall.

I think Penguins fans grossly overrate both the core and Sullivan for what they're providing today.
That's all easy to say now. They had it in them to at least finish in the top 8 last season. But that's all been ruined now. Just terrible asset management this season from both the coaching and management.

Steve McKenna is severely disrespected by a lot. I'm down with this as well.

O I am all too aware Sully goes nowhere. BUT man would I love if FSG showed a pulse and canned him with the front office. Put out a statement like "this isn't acceptable, we are sorry for the product you've paid for. Please consider this a token of our appreciation for your support"
Yeah, I mean, nuke the whole f***ing team tbh. Just go full scorched earth on the FO, scouting dept, and coaching staff, then trade f***in' everybody you can.

But we're gonna get annual repeats of this season until Sid retires. Then we get to finally look forward to some potential upward progress with all the losing, instead of this circling the drain for no reason bullshit.

No. I don’t care if Crosby’s linemates become Armstrong and Talbot lacing them back up and coming out of retirement. I want him to only ever wear 1 NHL jersey.

Mario is the best player to ever play for this team. Not the best Captain to play for this team
I don't know, that's very debatable I guess. But Crosby Captain this team to five successive playoff losses. Not sure what kind of leadership that shows. It's not all on him to be sure, but there were moments in the series he disappeared. If we can lose five successive playoff series with him then not really sure why he needs to stay when we can get assets on a team that clearly needs a change and a fresh start.. he is definitely not the best Captain this team has ever seen, that's just ridiculous.
