Not sure you've had a single positive post on this, the game thread, or the series thread. It's all pessimism, all the time. I guess that's ok but I don't think I'm out of line to push back against the negativity. I remember when the board had a much easier sense of humor but was a lurker then and must have missed the rest.

Not everyone shows their fandom by waving around the pom poms or whatever. I don't judge. I've been around. If I was really just some dickhead troll you think I'd stick around for oh... 17 years?

That's commitment I certainly don't have to a character. Maybe I'm just this way. Add me to your list or whatever if you feel the need. But not every opinion has to be couched in sunshine and kitten farts to be valid.

The entire complexion of the team changed dramatically as the game went on, imo. It's really hard to do what you have to do to create chances/score goals when you're afraid to jump up in the play as a blueliner or you're worried about getting caught deep as a forward because your goalie's off his game and letting in soft goals all game long.

yes, some times you gotta pull the goalie in that circumstance...not saying Legace would have better but it was worth a shot, at least to change the team mindset...we might have won this game...but Sully sticks with what he knows and is afraid to be gutsy and his team plays like that

I don't think I called you a dickhead troll, ever.. I just said your posts about this series have been very negative. I did call the other dude a troll; when you come on the board and rant about the players' character in insulting fashion and tell Mike Sullivan to plug his asshole with Cup rings and piss off because he sucks, I feel comfortable calling that a troll. I don't like discussion like that, not sure who does. So yeah that type of stuff gets to me. I don't like using the ignore list but feel I don't have a choice for my own peace of mind. And I don't remember the board being like that but I probably missed a lot.

You think this place was fun and games when Dick Tarnstrom led the team in scoring?

This place has always been kinda dark.

Frankly I like that more people here are willing to engage on some of the stupider tropes of the league and call them out.

I mean you have to make that change if you’re Hexurke and on record saying you’re going to evaluate and make changes depending on what happens in the POs...it’s insanity not to...doing the same thing season after season and not getting better results...not practical to change all the players and it’s clear it’s not one or two players only if we lose this matchup with Trotz again for the whatever # of times and we get the same result after having changed many of the players different years
We will see. It has been insinuated that one reason Philly fired Hexy was his unwilling to change coaches. Perhaps he learned from that? Or instead, perhaps Hexurke looks at the player composition as the reason for our one and dones? I really don't think Sully getting the axe if we lose the Isles is by ANY means a done deal. My preference is they win this f***ing series so the issue is moot.

I'm sure it wasn't but hell, there's been a lot of success since then.

Well yeah and I've loved every second of it. My cup is full.

I know I'm acerbic as hell more often than not and I like to needle the team when they fall on their faces. Which is a lot, lately. But I mean... dude... they've won 5 Cups in my lifetime. I'm very aware of that.

This game confused me as I don't know what the next steps are concerning Jarry....
Do you insulate him more from far shots?

I remember during the Fleury era we had the same issues (well not as bad). Fleury would make all the tough saves, and then let an easy one through. We loved Murray because he made all the predictable saves, so we knew how to somewhat insulate his weakness (aka glove hand). However, I don't remember Murray ever letting in 3 glove hand goals in a game.

I'm hoping that the Jarry we saw today was just rusty, and possibly with playoff jitters.

OT goal I don't blame him as that was a bit of a fluke.

Also, I don't like how our team is hesitant to play the fast forecheck chip game. We saw some of that in the 2nd period, but other periods, D were afraid to pinch it. I don't remember any D on a rush with a F covering for them. Either Islanders didn't give us that chance or we are hesitating.

Also our D breakout play seemed slow and conservative. I did not see many plays were we moved it out of the zone as quick as possible, or run a fast breakout. Lots of D to D passes, and all that does is give the Islanders time to collapse back.

Such a confusing game.

It is what it is and you have the right to post as you see fit. I certainly don't need sunshine and kitten farts either. But I'm also still gonna point out when I think people are reaching for all-encompassing explanations and lumping this team in with past years when they don't deserve that yet. And then you can push back and tell me that it all doesn't matter because Malkin's not coming back so the year is toast anyways. And I'm going to hope you're wrong.

I guess I just look at McCann and Kapanen and even Blueger to an extent and I don’t think of those three as “Sully’s guys”.

I'm not looking at it that way, but Blueger, Sceviour, ZAR, E-Rod, Gaudreau and such have been playing above expected and that can really help a team succeed and make a coach look well when so many key players are out. They have stepped up in a big way. My only let down on the year is I thought Jank would do more. He's not even a total loss. He was just not a full net negative, just there.

McCann and Kap were pretty much as expected.

Oh he's coming back.

It's just gonna be embarrassing and awful.

After the last game he played I would agree, but seeing him in practice has given me confidence he won't be a train wreck. It's the hits and collisions that concern me, not just for this series but his future.

You expected McCann and Kapanen to be 60+ pt forwards?

I mean that's really all I've been saying.

The contact that put him back out the last game of the year really wasn't that bad. That's my concern. Can he hold up to NHL rigors anymore?

Don't wanna think about it too much TBH. Depressing.
