I posted similar on the main board, if they had a late 2nd I’d say Grzelcyk, O’Connor and a 2nd for Hague seems reasonable.

I would try to send Ned over for Samsonov. Samsonov's number are just as bad as Neds on a much better team.

Maybe they could be convinced Ned would be an upgrade at backup.

I don't know what people think Hoglander is or if they feel he has a Hagel (6'2" 180 lbs) like trajectory, but Hoglander is 5'9" 185 lbs. and doesn't play on the top lines or the PP or have that top pedigree minutes Hagel gets 18:00 to 21:00 at Hoglander's 12:00 to 13:00's.

I guess when you prop him up on Sid's wing will do that, you think he'll have those same results as Hagel. Not everyone can be considered a Hagel. I don't think it's a wise case to pay assets for a 3.0 bottom sixer. He's not opening space and making others better considering he had a high shooting percentage and only 12 assists.

He's on pace for 6/7 goals and 9/10 assists with a 7.4 shooting percentage.

That becomes a negative asset at 3.0 and not quite the same as taking a chance on a guy Like Tomasino at like .875 RFA. You are overpaying a guy who's not shown he can do that one outlier year consistently. That's taking a huge gamble and a costly one at that.

Granlund = 30 points
Crosby = 27 points

This team has to continue to take some level of gamble. Whether it's on a player playing or in the draft. The best way is buying low on a player.

Dylan Strome got tossed around he league and the caps took a gamble and now he is well over a ppg at 5mill for them.

3mill is like nothing for a bottom 6 player anymore. Hoglander has been a consistent 10g+ 30pt player his career which cost 3mill anyways.

Just do anything to get Rakell off LW. I do not think he is nearly as effective there and Sid needs someone under 30 to play with.

Not only is $3 million not a lot and has massive future potential worth if Hoglander blows up here, why are the Penguins of all teams giving a shit about Hoglander having a $3 million deal? They need to be acquiring more of those low cost, decent upside players and Hoglander's contract likely makes him cheaper to acquire. It's no different than when they got Glass in the off-season, they just took advantage of Trotz being dumb and getting a pick out of it as well.

No one is talking about trading a legitimate asset for Hoglander, the discussions are like a 3rd round pick at most. That 3rd rounder will assuredly be re-acquired when they trade Beauvillier or O'Connor at the deadline.

Rakell has like 6 in 6 since being out with Sid and Sid and Rust are also producing.

Meh I dont trust it.

The still bleed goals and have CF below 50%
5GF 5GA

Honestly Sids best line state wise this year was
Beauvillier - Sid - Rakell

I just don't like the make up of
Rak - Sid - Rust

Honestly it is more so Sid and Rust sucking together. But I doubt Sid will let Rust go.

If they got Hoglander I would go.

Hog - Sid - Rak
Rust - Geno - Tomasino

We traded the wrong one!
People slating him with Sid has to be considering a likewise take or hopeful for it to take place.

I just feel he's a terrible asset to pursue.
I mean, sticking him with Sid to see what happens isn't the worst idea ever, at least to start. It would be in everyone's best interest (if we acquired him) if he broke out. So putting him in the best position possible to start off his new tenure isn't the worst idea. Seems to have a style that would fit well with Sid too - fast forechecker. And clearly, he has a skill set that's capable of 20 goals at 5v5. The nice part is, if that clicks, you can build a darn good lineup:

Hogs-Sid-Rust
Raks-Geno-Tomasino
DOC-Lizotte-Bunting

That said, I do think you could build several good 3rd lines as well: Hogs-Lizotte-Bunting, Hogs-Lizotte-DOC, DOC-Lizotte-Bunting.

Assuming one of DOC/Beau is moved and Hog is acquired, Sully probably starts with:
Rak-Sid-Rust
Hog-Geno-Toma
Bunting-Lizzote-DOC/Beau
Hayes-Acciari-Pulju/Nieto

Blackwood, 5th and the guy that just cleared waivers to Colorado from SJ.

Blackwood is getting traded to COL. Givani Smith is going in the trade & San Jose trading a 2027 5th too. Big trade, sounds like players and picks coming back from Avs
