The best trade at the deadline is a NEW f***IN COACH!!! we will be the winners of that deadline. It's like we took a huge scoop of margarine and spread it on toast and the start of it was good (back to back cups), but we kept spreading that bitch and there is nothing left but we keep spreading that bitch to the bitter end. Instead of taking a new scoop we just be spreading the nothingness that is the margarine.

I don’t understand a word of this…then again I’ve had too many cocktails and this sounds like someone who also had too many…

New update from Pierre LeBrun on Insider Trading, saying that the Pens will be in sell mode to some degree on March 8.

"Kyle Dubas, right now, is listening on everyone on his roster other than his core guys."

LeBrun mentioned Smith by name. Moving him for picks and replacing him in the summer with Tyler Bertuzzi would be a solid shake up.

With regards to Graves, I'm not expecting much. What I want is cap space and being rid of that long term. Even if amounts to nothing more than a 2nd or 3rd round pick in return, just get rid of that contract and that's already a plus because you can use that extra space to re-tool in the summer.
You're not gonna get that, in fact you'd likely have to give them a pick if you want for another team to take him off your hands. He has negative value right now and FIVE years left on his deal. No way would a team give us a draft pick UNLESS we give them a higher one.

Bertuzzi is a deceptively good playmaker and carries a bit of piss and vinegar, so I think he'd be a good addition. But again, this team's beyond looking for significant additions, and they'd have to overpay to get Bertuzzi imo. Why's a dude still in his prime--albeit the tail end of his prime--gonna sign on with a team that (maybe) missed the playoffs two years in a row and is only gonna get much worse?

The Pens are also going to be looking at table scraps as far as UFA's go. No player is going to sign here unless no half decent teams offer them. We didn't even get good UFA's when we were good.
I want them to target younger guys (21-24 or so) who have a skillset other than defensive grinder with no hands who could be on the cusp of breaking out.

A few will come but we’ll have to overpay…
