Oh... I didn't even notice it was Frank "He chose... poorly" Saravalli. Disregarding.
The New Jersey Devils acquired Timo Meier, Scott Harrington, Timur Ibragimov, Santeri Hatakka, Zachary Emond, and 2024 5th Round Pick from the San Jose Sharks for Andreas Johnsson, Shakir Mukhamadullin, Fabian Zetterlund, Nikita Okhotyuk, 2023 conditional 1st round pick, conditional 2024 2nd round pick and 2024 7th ...Jul 25, 2023I think Meier is a pretty good comparable to Guentzel.
Retained at 50%, didn't he essentially land 2 1sts and a bunch of junk?
I'd be on board for that but it largely depends on the price of Kakko. All things considered, he isn't worth much. We'll see just how much teams think of his draft pedigree...Trade Jake at 50% to a contender with no cap room next year.
Trade what you get for Jake to the rags for Kakko, assuming they take a call from the Pens...
Sign Kakko immediately. Sign Jake in the offseason.
No future assets lost and a solid young player gained. Or am I insane?
Seravalli is a Pejorative Slur Douche NozzleSaravalli did a trade matchmaker piece that includes Guentzel.
Here's his proposed trade:
To Colorado: Jake Guentzel (50% retained), Alex Nedeljkovic
To Pittsburgh: 2024 1st Rd Pick, 2025 1st Rd Pick, 2025 3rd Rd Pick

Which players and prospective new teams would make for perfect couples?www.dailyfaceoff.com
That seems underwhelming to me given how late the picks are going to be in the first round, the fact that the goalie market is very much a seller's market, and that Guentzel is being retained at 50%.
OK, so a little bit better than I remembered considering Ned was included in that theoretical deal. The New Jersey Devils acquired Timo Meier, Scott Harrington, Timur Ibragimov, Santeri Hatakka, Zachary Emond, and 2024 5th Round Pick from the San Jose Sharks for Andreas Johnsson, Shakir Mukhamadullin, Fabian Zetterlund, Nikita Okhotyuk, 2023 conditional 1st round pick, conditional 2024 2nd round pick and 2024 7th ...Jul 25, 2023
They got a decent player in Zetterlund, Mukhamadullin 1st rounder of the Devils in 2020, a 1st round pick,
Agreed, it's the type of trade I'd want to see Dubas make. A decent player that can fit the roster now, a young 1st rounder that's a year or max 2 away from steeping in and a 1st round pick that we can use as a pick or asset
It should be MukhamadullinOK, so a little bit better than I remembered considering Ned was included in that theoretical deal.
I'd rather get a higher ceiling roster player than Zetterlund, though.

Lol, you're not familiar with Pittsburgh, are you?If Guentzal wants cheers every time he steps on the ice in Pittsburgh then he will accept a sign and trade contract.
I’m full pessimist right now. I bet he walks in UFA for free. I don’t think the Pens will trade him. I’m not going off what I would do, I’m going off what I think they will do. They won’t trade him. They will think they can compete even if they are 20 points out in the last game of the season. They will think Jake will take a discount to stay with Sid all the way to the point he signed for 10+ some where else. And the team is gonna never turn a corner again till it’s a full rip it to the studs scorched earth rebuild. Which they won’t do. At least not for a few more years till the writing has been on the wall long enough for it to be carved into stone.Almost a certainty Jake gets traded, among others. But clearly he's our biggest chip. We need to hit a grand slam here.
Disagree, he'll be traded, they would have to be t a horrible level of ineptitude not to trade him. I don't believe they're THAT incompetent.I’m full pessimist right now. Highly likely, yes.I still think we have a great shot at picking in the top 10 this summer!!
I think technically yes, the other team doctors would have to sign offCan guentzel even be traded if he’s injured?
Yeah iirc, but who is trading for a guy on an expiring contract if his hand/wrist/finger is broken? Can guentzel even be traded if he’s injured?
