If we could trade Smith to the Flames and we get Kadri.

Gets them out of 5 more years of 7 million for Kadri.

They flip Smith for a draft pick.

Thoughts?
I would much rather try and get Sharangovich from Calgary. 4 million cheaper and 8 years younger.

I want Smith because I could see him turning it up in the playoffs. And I don’t really care if he wants to be here or not. Not my problem. Play well and you can pick your destination in 2025.

Pretty sure Zucker didn’t wanna be here either.

Time for them to rebuild and trade all their good players at 50% for our garbage?
Kyle Connor would be a wholesome addition.

Difference is that Smith doesn't really have the desire to play well atm. Zucker always did.

But yeah, maybe he'll come around in the playoffs, if the Pens somehow get in.

Crosby doesn’t like Kadri.
I don't care who Sid doesn't like, he just needs to sit there and be happy he gets what he wants for his line and stfu about the other lines that need help.

Smith would thrive with LW on L1 with the C his game fits best with. But why create depth when you can have 1 line.

From a poster on another site:

“Pagnotta was on NHL radio this morning. Said both sides have confirmed that no negotiations have happened with Jake yet. Said it will happen in the off-season. He also said Jake is not available and Dubas is not in a rush to do anything.

He did say he could see the Pens doing a lateral move, moving Smith out for a different forward type of deal.”

Im sorry but Dubas holding on to Jake if the Pens are any more than 1-2 points out of a playoff spot by the deadline would be the stupidest asset management and should be just cause to fire him and revoke his contract lol

For guys like Smith and Rakell, their body of work suggests that we are going to see a better version of them for the rest of the season. Unless we can move one and bring in a center and move Geno to wing, I can’t see us making another more than a depth move or two this year.
Smith should be better but still need to temper expectations, he was moved down the lineup in Vegas before he even came over. Its not like he came here and figured I am not going to play hockey, the decline was already coming.

I definitely think he can be useful middle 6th depth but it would be best get a winger that is better than him that can actually play a top 6 position and drive some play. Would love to get Buchnevich somehow

Now if you can get a similar player as Smith for a swap in a hockey trade, I am all for it.

This is the organization that chose Carter over McCann…..Arrogant ignorance is the norm at pens plaza.

And yes, Jake isn't going anywhere, it would be a huge kick in the nuts to Crosby/Geno and would be waiving the white flag. That's not going to happen.

I know many here want the team to lose which is weird because you know, Start the Reeeeeebuild but it aint happening Jack

Some of yall are going to have to wait a year or 2 to start the process of bottom dwelling and being the NHLs punching bag for 6-8 years and hope and luck their way back into competitiveness. Its going to be a rude awakening for many of you who think rebuilds automatically = success

Shocked you hate something the pens are doing

I want the mighty ruler to be appointed 'Head Coach For Life' so they can just never have to worry about a HC ever againnn.

You're absolutely right. This team needs to be eternally out of contention for a Cup so that your entertainment quality won't suffer too much for a few rebuilding years. Then the team can rack up those L1 losses or 9th place finishes.
Because avoiding what's necessary in life always ends well.

Every teams goal is to make the playoffs. Than anything can happen. They can still make the playoffs, why blow it up only to work to try and get where they are right now.

It's funny you think a few years and a team is automatically back in the playoff race. It's going to be longer than a few years just to get the team to the point where they are right now. BET

In fairness, Carter did more for us in the playoffs than McCann would have, and the playoffs weren't in question at that point.
Sure, McCann would have led to more standings points, but those don't make any real difference if you're above the cut-off line.
