I think Jake taking such a low deal for his prime could see him chase money for this next contract.
Nah, that 6x6 was in line with what he should have got at the time.I think Jake taking such a low deal for his prime could see him chase money for this next contract.

I can see Sid's influence bringing him down to something tolerable.
I want Kempe. Here are the comparable players point wise to Jake over the last 3 seasons..
Tage Thompson
Ovechkin
Jack Hughes
Point
Pavelski
Fiala
Goal wise.
Tkachuk
Kempe
Nylander
Stamkos
Hintz
Mackinnon
Contracts in order
Thompson - 7.14
Ovechkin- 9.5
Hughes - 8
Point - 9.5
Pavelski - 5.5
Fiala - 7.875
Tkachuck - 9.5 mil
Kempe - 5.5
Nylander - 6.92
Stamkos - 8.5
Hintz - 8.45
MacKinnon - 12.6 mil
If he gets 7 mil I'll be shocked.
If he takes a discount it's likely in the 8s given his age and what he has done. With the cap increase he should be pushing 9-10.
I have him around $8.25 to 9.25 million. He'll be around Hughes/Hintz if he stays with the Pens. He'll push close to Point/Tkachuck - but not quite get there - if he hits the open market. Here are the comparable players point wise to Jake over the last 3 seasons..

Thompson - 7.14 - Good comparison, realistic contract that's fair for both sides. Here are the comparable players point wise to Jake over the last 3 seasons..

Ovechkin- 9.5 - Jake ain't Ovie. Goals or not. So no.
Hughes - 8 - Hughes is also a center that is driving play at an elite level. Jake isn't. So no.
Point - 9.5 - Point is a center that helped lead the TBL to two cups. Like Hughes, he's a play driving center.
Pavelski - 5.5 - Pavs took the cut after he got old. At Jake's age, he signed at $7mil which is about $8.1375mil today. Not a terrible comparison.
Fiala - 7.875 - Good comparison.
Tkachuck - 9.5 mil - Jake doesn't do a lot of the stuff Tkachuck does. So no.
Kempe - 5.5 - Too low. Jake's been producing for much longer.
Nylander - 6.92 - I thought that was high for Nylander and now he's about to get $10mil+
Stamkos - 8.5 - Stammer was a play driving center.
Hintz - 8.45 - Again, a play driving center.
MacKinnon - 12.6 mil - Not going to even say it.
Stats aren't everything. The Thompson and Fiala contracts are good measures. Based on them, I could easily see a $8mil x 6yr deal.
How dare he…total priorities are all wrong lolyou'd have to ask @ColePens, i haven't talked to Kirk in ... years. I might still have his email laying around somewhere, but Cole still talks to him regular AFAIK.
(but, as far as I know, Kirk is simply more concerned with family life than complaining about the Pens)

I didn't think anyone on hf was that smart,Family over HF? I knew something was off with Kirk.
If you’re gonna have a b2b, it’s only fair your opponent has one too imo, so it’s pretty advantageous from that perspective, but a tough slate of Eastern opponents and we may be playing our third string goalie and WBS call up on the b2b nights lol..View attachment 765340
Red box = Opponent played the night before.
This schedule isn't as bad as it appears. Still pretty bad though lol.
Ned is eligible to return on the 19th. He is skating already, so hopefully that's the case.If you’re gonna have a b2b, it’s only fair your opponent has one too imo, so it’s pretty advantageous from that perspective, but a tough slate of Eastern opponents and we may be playing our third string goalie and WBS call up on the b2b nights lol..
Well good news tomorrow night is that Hellberg just has to be better than Phoenix Copley in net lol…Copley on the season has like a .788 save % and is giving up nearly 5 goals per game in his 3 starts so far …of course, it would be very on brand for the Pens to make him look like the next Vezina winner…let’s hope they’ve learned something from the last two games lolNed is eligible to return on the 19th. 5 games until then though. Hellberg may have to put on the cape here.
The schedule is always gonna look bad when you're last in the division lmao.View attachment 765340

It's convenient that our next 2 opponents are tired, at a time when we're vulnerable in net.
