Basically have to get 44/45 wins out of the remaining 73 games. Anyone out there really think this team can go 45-28 or 44-29 the rest of the way? I have serious doubts they’re capable of getting to 15 games above .500 with what’s left. Seems impossible, really.
Yeah, 97 points is the goal for playoff lock, so they need 91.
42-24-7 or something.
.623 hockey. That's a 102 point pace over 82 games.

No Poulin or Puustinen tonight in WBS. Both played in the last game, and neither qualifies as a veteran scratch.

Haven't seen anything regarding injuries, though that's most likely the case. Might be too optimistic, but maybe something to watch...

That's one hideous lineup.

By the time they come around to a shakeup in December - you'd have to believe that both the team and Jarry are capable of like a 15-2 run afterwards.

I don't know how anyone sees that. Dubas doesn't seem willing to go the trigger Jim route of making 2-3 trades AND firing the coaches. Not only that we don't have a backup/AHL goalie to step in and push Jarry to the bench. So long as we're alluding to the past here.

I don’t know why Jake isn’t on this list…for offense…his shooting % is woeful…

"Even with the two shutouts he still has a sub-.900 save percentage seven starts into the season. That is really difficult to do."

Ha, just Tristan Jarry things.

Pensblog talk?

Pensblog in their hay-day was peak Pens fandom.
That was at least to my recollection... everyone and their mum was a penguin fan at that point. Everyone was into the games with fury....

Me, and everyone who watched in my family, don't want anything to do with the penguins.
They don't hit, they don't make you jump up, they don't make you say woooooooow! It's a very stoic watch (and team!).

It is boring hockey and it should not be until post sid and geno years, but that is what they want... it is beyond the pale at this point.

Erik Karlsson, Lars Eller, Ryan Graves and Marcus Pettersson are all wearing neck guards.

• Plenty of skill drills to start. Both rinks are going to be used today.

• During 5-on-3 drills Rickard Rakell is taking reps on Power Play 1, swapping spots with Reilly Smith, who was on Power Play 2. During 5-on-4, Smith was back on the first Power Play line.

Jeff Carter is not on the Power Play today. Vinnie Hinostroza takes his spot.

PP1 Line: Smith, Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, Evgeni Malkin, Karlsson

PP2: Kris Letang, Hinostroza, Radim Zohorna, Rakell, Bryan Rust

• Lines:

Guentzel-Crosby-Rust

Smith-Malkin-Rakell

O'Connor-Eller-Zohorna

Nieto-Acciari-Hinostroza

Graves-Letang

Pettersson-Karlsson

Shea-Ruhwedel

Interesting on the neck guards. Are they the velcro kind or something else?

They nicknamed Justin Abdelkader, Vaginal Applicator, and that is awesome.
