Sid's been programmed to be a mediaspeak robot since he was like 12 years old. The one single time he's ever spoken candidly was in 2012 when he went *crazy* and said he just doesn't like the Flyers.

But yeah, greater point stands, imo. This team's all bought in on Sully's style. I don't think this is anything close to the Johnston era where guys were just sleepwalking around the ice, bored out of their mind and frustrated by the style. These guys are on the same page as Sullivan, and to suggest otherwise is absurd, because if Sid were sick of a coach, they'd be gone yesterday.

The board loves to project its feelings about Sullivan onto the players. Particularly 87 and 71. But they seem to believe in Sullivan and think he's the right guy for the job.

It's going to take a 10+ game losing streak or similar to really threaten Sully's job. At which point the season is over anyway. This isn't what I want to be true. I hope I am wrong.

I agree that Sid is a hockey robot but tbh he's gotten a lot more ornery and willing to speak his mind as he's gotten older.

When he was young he'd never snap at reporters the way he will now. If he disagrees with a reporter he'll throw the questions back at them. That wasn't something I recall him doing a lot from like 18-25.

He'll only go so far with that though. You'll never hear him call out the team the way that Geno might.

I like to see him loose around Mac, like here:

That's how he is around the boys at practice.

This Pens team is dead last.

Kyle Dumbass needs to get off paw patrol marathon and fire this f***ing coach already.

When was the last time any of us remember the Pens being dead last in the east 6 games in? I mean some will balk it's just 6 games in, but this is 6 games into a new season with problems we've seen for 6yrs. It's kind of frustrating at this point.

The Avs should cake walk through this team and hopefully game #7 is the last straw. Sullivan is a broken record for his excuses, he's been out of ideas for years.

I love Geno for that. He's super hard on himself which sucks to see but he isn't shy to say things as much as the rest.

Early yet.

The 3rd line seems to be coming together, and I don't see Rakell's struggles lasting much longer. Sid's also yet to really get going and I don't think this is his new standard.

I've suggested trading Jake at least twice (Eichel, Tkachuk), so I'm not opposed to the idea.

However, I'm at the point that I'm not trading anybody until I see them under a new coach.

I give it another ~2 weeks. If we're still scraping the bottom of the barrel, something should be done.

And I can't ever imagine it'll be trading Jake (as much as I might agree with it depending on the details). We were much later in the season, in just as tenuous a spot in the standings, and we did nothing with Dumo even though he was a much less important piece of the future.

That's my view too. There is no salary cap on coaching. Players are much harder to replace. It's insane to start selling off core players before trying them with a new coach.

That's the lot of it. Homegrown players rarely get traded under this regime

I’m sure 87 and 71 loved DB too, and Sullivan won them Cups…at some point, Dubas has to inject them with a dose of reality…nobody else seems to do it…is it just lip service on their parts that they want to win a fourth Cup and don’t really want to put in the work? If so, then Sullivan will stay…if not, then they should be going to Dubas and telling him to fire Sullivan because they’ve only won their Cups with a new coach lol

25. Pittsburgh Penguins (2-4-0, -3. CF%: 7, xGF%: 5)

The Pens can be frustrated, but Father Time is undefeated, and at some point, reality sets in. It’s still early, but the Pens are just lacking the pieces to be a contender and lost three straight after a promising start.

THN power rankings…can’t actually believe there are seven teams worse than the Pens…the Caps should have jumped them by virtue of their excellent win on the road over NJD lol

it percolated ...I was really sad listening to Sid after the game, he seemed totally oblivious to whats wrong with this team, the worst thing he is now defiant and kind of get pissy with the reporters that dare to ask what's wrong...If Sid speaks like taht how could you expect 3rd or 4th liners to have somekind selfreflection and , I don't know I lost any hope they can turn this around, no character that can rally the troups, wrong system, etc...
Coaching staff house cleaning is the only solution here. The only thing we can do is pray the slide continues. Seriously, sliding to 2-10-0 could be the best thing that happened to this franchise in 5 years for this reason alone

Sullivan should've been fired years ago, and I'll be cheering the moment he's sent packing. But this team's not a coaching change away from making a deep run or anything. They still lack substantial depth, and they still have a mess in goal. /shrug

Still, though, fire Sullivan yesterday. This shit's awful to watch. I don't care if the team's losing, but let 'em lose by virtue of giving up chances/goals against from being too aggressive as opposed to this slopshit, wannabe structured garbage.

Y:eah, I mean... what more can one say? Either the baloney talking just to connect words together in different places... or tell the truth.... but how much of the truth...
Truth of sticking with a decaying coach and system or some other little truth or half truth they can squeeze out.
