Well to say this is underwhelming is just an understatement. Yes I was going off info that seemed to be what was reported. But this is simply a Dubas not sticking with unless the deal was have to do it, why bother. FSG had better make the real estate deal work. This is such a bummer of a return of 3 small lefty shot lower rated prospects that really have not addressed what the Pens need to address. I had confidence Dubas would maximize Jake into a good deal. I was wrong. Can't put the spin on this Dubas. FSG will like the 11,000 coming to the PPG Paints arena in 2 years. I just can't give Dubas the benefit of the doubt after this nonsence.
Not only we’re the prospects small, they can’t skate lol…this is a good summary of the underwhelming return…GMs are laughing at Dubas

Eller is smart player to add if you are a contender. He's a key contributor on one of the best penalty kills in the league, strong on faceoffs, not totally useless in the offensive zone, and he's got a ton of playoff experience.

Too bad Jake didn't learn to take a little less and be loyal from Sid 🥴

Little does everyone know Jake did the team a favor and won't sign here this season or elsewhere and come back signed next season on the cheap with a stronger base of young guys that will be fighting for roster spots and more cap space to see if they can fill out a competitive roster. Basically free assets on a washed season

Also tanking this season looks bad on Sullivan and while he seems ironclad is our best shot of getting him out.

In all actuality Jake is the real genius here and doing Sid and the team the best thing and the only real shot for the core moving forward.

Guys Jake isn't even signed. We weren't going to get much and I stated 2 days ago many of you were going to be disappointed in the return.

The return wasn't even that bad considering and they are likely more ready now prospects then some quality we may also have thrown at us but turned away.

A prospect that is ready in 3 years does nothing for the "rebuild" so many of you talk about as Crosby will be retiring and doesn't fall into the rebuild timeline. That player will be irrelevant when it does come to a true rebuild and won't even be apart of the process.

Please don't fall into the

"Im leaving the message board if they do this or I'm not watching if they do that group."

There's like 10 people here that have threatened us with that multiple times and yet still here

Your better than that : )
I'm only better than that because I have conviction.

uh yeah. We had Kessel, Perron (obv didn’t fit but good player), Kunitz, Hornqvist, Neal directly before Jake. All acquired outside of the org.

I know what you’re saying about the trash we would throw with Sid, but just saying that Guentzel would be the 3rd guy on that list to me behind Phil and prime Kunitz as an individual talent. I appreciate his fit here and the way he figured out a way to play with Sid like few else, but I never was blown away by his talent level or individual play. I think as you lost 87 and 71 he wasn’t the right guy to groom young Cs next to. I would be livid at this trade if I viewed him as a Pastrnak level superstar, but I don’t.

Replacing top 6 wingers can be be done.
Precisely. It took a f***ing decade for the Pens to find a legit 1st line winger who clicked with Sid and produced when it mattered.

"Prime" Kunitz was a great complementary guy, but he never sniffed Guentzel. His career high was 68 points with absolute prime Crosby, he topped out at 5 goals in a single playoff run (only scored a single goal in 24 playoff games in '09), and always left you wanting more offensively.

Characterizing him as some run of the mill "top 6 forward" we can replace at the drop of a hat is ridiculous. Wait and see what Crosby's linemates look like going forward.

I think if the first wasn't conditional I'd be completely fine with the trade. Koivunen seems like a good prospect and Ponomarev seems like he could immediately come up to the NHL, seems like a better prospect than anyone they have currently in Wilkes. Just wish it was a first, but I'm not going to get bent out of shape here. Guentzel was gone, and they got something for him.
