Koivunen looks good. I think a quantity over quality trade made sense here. Bunting is going to be serviceable for us, and I feel like that’s being overlooked. At worst he can be traded next year at some point.
They really don’t. They have to give raises to a bunch of good players and sign/trade for a legit 2C next season.Yes they do. Especially with us taking the Bunting contract off their hands. Cap is going up next year and they have a ton of expiring contracts.
What are you talking about LOL that was a problematic contract for the canes that we let them out of… no one’s trading for him & that contract read the details of it. It’s a limited no trade attached as well lolKoivunen looks good. I think a quantity over quality trade made sense here. He was a complete cap dump for them, the canes are trying to win a cup if they thought much of him they wouldn’t have traded him. What are you talking about LOL that was a problematic contract for the canes that we let them out of… no one’s trading for him & that contract read the details of it. OK can you fill me in on these guys a little more?Koivunen is definitely the player the Pens wanted most in the trade
With the sheer number of assets if two pan out to be meaningful contributors maybe not so bad. That's a lot of assets. The question is, are they any good?So it's the equivalent of 4 second rounders+Bunting which seems pretty good tbh. And these prospects should be pushing for the roster next year. Wish he would have gotten the guaranteed first but he did well overall imo.
Quality over quantity I'd prefer.Koivunen looks good. I think a quantity over quality trade made sense here. Bunting is going to be serviceable for us, and I feel like that’s being overlooked. At worst he can be traded next year at some point.
Blokes might not like this - but Reirden as the temp coach would be fine the rest of the season and then let him go and find a better coach. Todd wouldn't be running the powerplay as the HC. A new assistant would. Or fire Sully and Todd and make Vellucci the temp coach and add new assistants.Indeed welcome to 2020 when that major turd should have been flushed too… it was beyond obvious then. Now it’s belly achingly laughable like the rest of the franchise.
We get a top 9 guy in Bunting and restock the prospect pool. Considering the practically empty pool we had, I think quantity makes sense here. With the sheer number of assets if two pan out to be meaningful contributors maybe not so bad. That's a lot of assets. The question is, are they any good?
Quality over quantity I'd prefer.
Happy about a good return but also depressed because Sullivan is still the coach.Someone tell me how to feel. I got no idea
Atleast we got something
The Fin intrigues me. He went from 28 points last season to 55 points this season, albeit in 5 more games in the finnish elite league but it's a noticeable improvement from 19 to 20.Someone tell me how to feel. I got no idea

Unless any of the prospect develop into players much better than they project to be/trending to be, it seems like a rather meh return. Not bad, but not exactly the type of return you'd hope for given the "so many teams are ALL IN bidding war" type.Someone tell me how to feel. I got no idea
Atleast we got something
People are underrating BuntingClearly Jake for Bunting is the new Neal for Hornqvist. On welfare
Thanks for picking up the slack. It's a good thing there's two of us.
Should have got a new coach before trading players.Blokes might not like this - but Reirden as the temp coach would be fine the rest of the season and then let him go and find a better coach. Then do a full deep dive for a new coach - I still like Carle a lot for this in any capacity.
I really hope we wake up tomorrow to Ruh, Carts, and Smith all traded and Sullivan fired.
Crosby seems sad, which is unfortunate. The whole not sure what message it sends bit is curious. I'm sure Yohe and Rossi are drafting up a fan fic article. The one I edited would be 100% dead on oddly enough lol.
Guentzel sent Sid a text - "They not think I good player."
“They not want me,” Guentzel texted to Letang, who had stepped up efforts to console Guentzel after Dubas didn't offer him a deal.
“How bad is it?” Letang asked Crosby about the state of Guentzel’s emotions & the negotiations. “Pretty bad,” Crosby said.
Problem with Bunting is he's at his best when he plays on the edge. That's the polar opposite for how Sullivan wants people to play. He wants robots who just "play the right way".People are underrating Bunting
I like how Bunting goes in front of the net. If anything it will kick old man Carter off of the powerplay. I hope Dubas calls up Poulin and Ponomarev from the AHL.. Waive Hawkins please!!! Hopefully Dubas can make some nice trades on Friday.Koivunen looks good. I think a quantity over quality trade made sense here. That's not an easy league to score in either. The Fin intrigues me. He went from 28 points last season to 55 points this season, albeit in 5 more games in the finnish elite league but it's a noticeable improvement from 19 to 20.
Too bad the problem is with Sullivan.Problem with Bunting is he's at his best when he plays on the edge. That's the polar opposite for how Sullivan wants people to play. He wants robots who just "play the right way".
A neutered Bunting isn't nearly as effective as the loose cannon version.
