Now that he's gone, no need to be homers anymore. Guentzal was awful defensively, frequently had shifts with questionable effort level and got pushed around a lot. Absolutely useless on the PP around the net. I couldn't care less about players like Guentzal and expecially Malkin who cherry pick a point, but then let the other team score.
He was also the only player not named Jeff friggen Carter willing to go to the net on the PP and Sid has been a ghost without him. He is paid to score, not play defense.

Are you Josh Yohe coming in to do the damage control at the team's bidding to soften the blow?

Any form of negotiation.

He’s been decent at drafting. Hopefully that pans out here because this team is finished after this move.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we see the core ask out after this absurd mismanagement …
The team was finished when we missed the playoffs last season.
It was nice to think that the Karlsson trade had re-opened the window a crack, but it didn't.
Therefore, Dubas did nothing to change the fact that the window was shut for good, because there was nothing he could've done.

Anyhow lol @ all of the "Stop making fun of Kyle Dubas, just wait until the TDL. You'll see" dipshittery the last week or so. Yinz wanna own up to that or...
Quite possibly the worst trade I’ve ever seen the Penguins make. And I was here for the Naslund one.

With Bunting acquired I don't think the Pens even have the cap to bring back Jake even if they wanted to try.

The only money coming off the books this summer is Jeff Carter (3m) Ned (1.5m) and Harkins (800k). Couple rfas too to sign.

There's no money to bring Jake back unless Dubas moves out a lot more salary tomorrow (today?). Like sure if he gets Smith off the books or Rakell or something.
He has to move out cap today. Retaining on Jake and losing his LTIR erased his cushion I believe.

I think most of us knew this. I pointed it out several times that Sid's line was a shit show defensively. It's why Rakell fit better with those two than Rust. Mikey Bunts will be with Crosby and Rakell. But not sure what happens with Rust. I'm guessing in Sullivan's pea brain he will do - Puustinen, Malkin, Rust or Bunting, Crosby, Rust and Rakell, Malkin, Puustinen.

Smith is probably gone next and I wouldn't be shocked if Ned, POJ, Carter, and Eller are next. I think Dubas might settle with Doc as the 3c the rest of the season.

Something to consider is that Kyle Dubas has traded down in the draft quite a bit. He was interim GM for the Leafs in 2015 for the multi trade down converting 24 into 34, 61 and 68. In 2018, he did 25 for 29 and 76. In 2020, there was a 44 for 59 and 64.

This is a manager that sees value in a volume of lottery tickets, effectively what he acquired here. Carolina might have done the same in a reverse situation.

And Dubas is now worse than Hextall. Quite a feat.

Dubas’ main errors are not firing the coach and signing Graves. But the performances since the ASG is on the players, literally nothing has forced them to look that shitty. There’s no reason for them to have been this bad. Sullivan sucked in December too but the team wasn’t an abomination. They just choked, this is what they get - hopefully for all our sakes a new coach happens sooner than later.

Good, we don't have to see you misspelling his name any longer. 🤣

Well to say this is underwhelming is just an understatement. Yes I was going off info that seemed to be what was reported. But this is simply a Dubas not sticking with unless the deal was have to do it, why bother. FSG had better make the real estate deal work. This is such a bummer of a return of 3 small lefty shot lower rated prospects that really have not addressed what the Pens need to address. I had confidence Dubas would maximize Jake into a good deal. I was wrong. Can't put the spin on this Dubas. FSG will like the 11,000 coming to the PPG Paints arena in 2 years. I just can't give Dubas the benefit of the doubt after this nonsence.

Agreed. Hitching your wagon to one guy in your pool who isn’t Nishikin probably wouldn’t have been as good of a bet even if they are a really good prospect. Pittsburgh has time and time again seen its mid round picks out perform its 1st and 2nd rounders.

Frankly, I hope FSG goes bankrupt and sells the team to better owners.

Probably because those are usually chosen by the scouts, not GMs.

The numbers are very encouraging. These guys are nothing to sneeze at.

To be fair, that's like saying the Titanic's biggest issue is the giant hole in the side of the ship.
Mate Dubas should be pissed. He's made all the changes he's done to the Pens, look like shit like the other Gms suffered with. But instead he just went along with FSG and their bromance with Sullivan.
