Cruz Lucious was PPG in the NCAA at 18 …

That’s really really good. He’s doing it again this season.

I think we’re sleeping on this guy a bit.

The difference is that the Canes don’t have the cap space to sign Guentzel to his rumored 8M+ deal. I actually believe none of the teams that made an offer for Jake have enough space, unless I’m mistaken. They all bid for Jake as a 2 month rental, nothing more.
Yes they do. Especially with us taking the Bunting contract off their hands. Cap is going up next year and they have a ton of expiring contracts.

I hope Dubas tears it down tomorrow and moves out a lot of guys.

I don't honestly care for what. I am indeed at the point where I would consider change for changes sake to be good. Legitimately. This roster is incredibly stale. The coach even staler.

I have hope that at least the roster might change, even if the coach won't.

Riiight. 26 year old RFA vs 29 year old UFA.
You could make a strong case that Jake Guentzel is the best playoff performer to ever be traded at the deadline (still in his prime/productive years...I'm not talking players past their expiration date)

Also, Dubas reportedly woudn't let teams talk to him before a trade. That's just shooting yourself in the foot. He's probably stupid enough to think there's any chance Jake comes back.

Out with my dad tonight, and glad *all* of today's Pens news is over 🥴

I don't hate Jake going to the Canes and I hope he has a good run in the playoffs.

To the new guys... godspeed.

Bring on all the conditional 5th round picks babyyyyy and overpaid 3rd liners with multiple years and a no trade list LOL

I think I'm gonna have to re think my life a bit. Where to expend my time and energy. Who and what I want to invest my time. Probably gravitate towards horseracing more than I already do. At least in that case I can pick the horse, because unfortunately can't pick this GM, coach or players. Time to find my bliss. Spend more time with loved ones and enjoy my remaining years. And not continue to repeat this exercise in futility by following a team with no accountability, no hope for the future and no desire to change anything. Doesn't mean I won't post. But if I do it's because I'm hopelessly bored out of my mind. So, probably cut back about 20%.

With Bunting acquired I don't think the Pens even have the cap to bring back Jake even if they wanted to try.

The only money coming off the books this summer is Jeff Carter (3m) Ned (1.5m) and Harkins (800k). Couple rfas too to sign.

There's no money to bring Jake back unless Dubas moves out a lot more salary tomorrow (today?). Like sure if he gets Smith off the books or Rakell or something.

I don't see any way to get rid of either without having to take back another stinker contract.

Hell yes. Give me a different band of losers to cheer for

Yeah probably not. Or he'd have to retain on them at the least.

Which is yet another indictment on Dubas/FSG for not wanting to fire Sullivan because if it's gonna be this hard to enact roster change and you want different results then fire the f***ing coach

I pretty much took the whole season off from this board, and maybe watched 10 games this year live, so I'm right there with you. Young kids really force you to re-evaluate how you spend your time.

Just wait. If Riley Smith is still a Penguin past tomorrow I'm going to hurt someone, or maybe myself.

Don't worry, we'll trade Pettersson so that we can fit in Kyle Palmieri or some shit.

Now that he's gone, no need to be homers anymore. Guentzal was awful defensively, frequently had shifts with questionable effort level and got pushed around a lot. Absolutely useless on the PP around the net. I couldn't care less about players like Guentzal and expecially Malkin who cherry pick a point, but then let the other team score.

This is not a jab on anyone, but it's genuinely more fun following the Penguins when you're not on this board. It can quite easily become an even more negative experience.
