Also, why is it unbelievable to think mgmt liked Koivunen and Pronomorev more than Blake? People are talking about these guys like they are in concrete tiers when they only guy who’s head and shoulders above in their system is Nishikin.

I don't care what Dubas says. Actions matter. He said Jeff Petry was going to be an important part this season and then shipped back off to Montreal in the Karlsson trade. Who is to say he doesn't go back on his Sullivan comments? He certainly wouldn't be the first manager to back a coach and then fire him months later.

Blake is widely regarded by the most prominent scouts to be better than either of those guys, so odds are that the Pens just couldn’t get the Canes to work a top 5 prospect into the deal.

Interesting that Koivunen plays with last year's draft pick Emil Pieniniemi and former Pen (we still hold his rights) Kasper Bjorkqvist in Karpat. We may have scouts who have seen quite a bit of him.

In addition, that's Joel Blomqvist's former team.

A cap dump, and in no way did we get 3 B prospects. I watch a ton of college hockey and Lucius is no where near a B prospect, a guy who from most accounts is abottom 6 guy is not a B prospect. Don’t know enough about Koivunen but he seems like the only B prospect. This was an atrocious return

Funny thing is, I know almost nothing about any of these prospects, and yet, I'm pretty sure that not only are they all in the top 10 in the Pens' system, 1-2 of them may well be in the top 5!

The difference is that the Canes don’t have the cap space to sign Guentzel to his rumored 8M+ deal. I actually believe none of the teams that made an offer for Jake have enough space, unless I’m mistaken. They all bid for Jake as a 2 month rental, nothing more.

You’re def not getting the rumored offers for a 2 months rental. The insiders were full of shit.
