GDT: Pens 2024 Trade Deadline Thread: Jake Shake Talk here

We have to remember Jake is a rental and probably won’t sign until FA hits. A young player, first and prospect is a good return. Or screw the pick and get two prospects…which is what I’d rather get.

Or you keep the guy and sign him.

yeah. what we holding on to Smith, Ned, Eller Ruhwedel (if we can get a lat pick) etc for?

Im almost afriad we win tonight and they get delusional about us having a chance on the PO and call off the selling, including Jake.

Cause Jake moving dictates who’s in on our other players and what Dubas wants back for them. Jake is setting the market for the rest of Dubas’ moves. My two cents anyways

My interest is 100% in the Kakko plus and has been since first suggested.

Get us that young roster piece RFA and futures. Again the upcoming FA class is pretty poo so a young roster player is a good get with Jake - but obviously not to supplant the futures aspect. It should be the icing over what's being offered elsewhere in straight prospect(s).

I'll take Kappo on Sid's line over DOC any day.

For what it's worth.

But this all SHOULD be the FIRST step towards a better future. Not the ultimate step. Should still be selling off pieces for other futures/draft capital and rebuilding the team over the Summer. My hope is that this team somehow gets Kadri NLT than the start of next season. Or some other 2C we haven't thought of.

according to Chris Johnston, the Pens have to trade Reilly Smith FIRST if they want a team to retain 50% on a Guentzel trade. We don't have the cap space, otherwise.

Interesting, I had not heard that before. Makes the fact Smith is still here even more puzzling to me.

I hope Dubas moves out as many players as possible and we come out with a hugely different roster next year.

Obviously the core is going nowhere but let's reshape the entire rest of the roster. This team is so stale.

People keep mentioning Ruhwedel as if we wouldn't have to give up a pick to make some other team take his crusty ass.

I feel like dealing Smith will be like acquiring Granlund last year. It will just materialize seemingly out of nowhere.
 
It would be pretty funny for us to do what Clarke/Fletcher/Philly failed to do with Giroux (who was open to re-signing, but they shut the door on him).

Imagine a haul like Tippett+1st+whatever AND having Jake re-sign.
