I hope Dubas moves out as many players as possible and we come out with a hugely different roster next year.

Obviously the core is going nowhere but let's reshape the entire rest of the roster. This team is so stale.

Spoke forever about JT Miller before his trade protections kicked in (and their amazing run as a team) - genuinely....imagine our team if he's the 2C. We're not even selling Jake and we're likely firmly in the 2 or 3 spot in the Metro at worst.

It's been incredibly obvious what we've needed and Dullivan has continued to staff the team inappropriately.

My next target would be Kadri as a great 2C option on an affordable deal (since we're spending so heavily on EK) to get us by until Sid signs for (less?). Get through next year then have Sid personally escort Marner around to woo his buddy here.

according to Chris Johnston, the Pens have to trade Reilly Smith FIRST if they want a team to retain 50% on a Guentzel trade. We don't have the cap space, otherwise.

Interesting, I had not heard that before. Makes the fact Smith is still here even more puzzling to me.
That makes zero sense. Something is incorrect there.

Guentzel is on LTIR. He can't be activated until after the deadline.

I heard Jake and Harkins for McDavid(100%retained), Draisaitl(99% retained) and a third but, Sullivan blocked it.

He was right to block it. Gotta get that extra 1% retention on Draisaitl if you're gonna throw in Harkins.

Don't shoot the messenger. Just reporting what he said on his podcast, which dropped a few hours ago.
Yeah, not going after you. I think Johnston may have something backward, which is easy to do given all that's going on leaguewide.

Maybe it comes from the fact that losing Jake's 6MM of LTIR relief jams them up.
Then they can just put Rust on LTIR.

Like, I wouldn't be surprised if some cap machinations have to happen, but nothing that requires moving Smith first.

I wonder if it's some relatively obscure thing (because players don't often get dealt while on LTIR) that the portion being retained has to be available on the team dealing said player away?

If so, they can just put Rust on LTIR and backdate it.

What team is gonna pay the lofty price to win the power and the glory that is the one true generational talent and he TRUE leader of this team, Jansen goddamn mother f***ing Harkins?

I think Johnston is actually correct that the Penguins can't trade Guentzel at 50% without opening up that money elsewhere. But that doesn't mean Smith has to be traded first, that's one of the ways to open up that money.

Like it has been mentioned, Rust on LTIR solves that issue entirely.

I traded Othmann in a keeper league to acquire some help for a playoff run this year.

If he becomes a Penguin I'll be bummed I no longer have him.

It seems that Dubas meant what he said. Either he gets his very high price or doesn't make a trade.

If there were a trade to make I would think that it would have been done by now. No one is blinking.

I think that it is a mistake and poor asset management, but there we are.

If we make no trades at all to retool i'll be completly confused wtf happened. Even the Caps have.
