I think that it is a mistake and poor asset management, but there we are.

Or there’s a bidding war but nobody has quite matched what he wants which is one young roster player and an A prospect
 
So how do we feel about just Kakko+1st for rental Guentzel?

If he signs elsewhere: Underwhelmed.

If he resigns here: Happy.

I wanted that trade to go thru last deadline. Things leading up to him being moved made it seem like it almost went down. Some were saying it would be stupid to grab him because he has a attitude or whatever and his contract. Which at the end of the day could have been moved when it didn't matter.

Would have loved to get him here and he would have likely fit like a glove.

Trade deadline is always one the most anticipated, but ultimately disappointing days of the year.

Yep. Even the current system.

Kadri seems like a logical target. I'd take a chance on Huber to get the deal done depending on the pieces. The Flames seem like they're toying with a teardown and I think those would be two actually attainable pieces. Don't particularly want Huber - but Kadri for damn sure.

Marner seems like such a long shot and it seems like the Leafs will just pay those guys whatever they want. But what if they fail again this year? Who knows.

Jake: Roster + Prospect + 3rd
Smith: 2nd
Ned: 3rd?
Eller: 3rd?
Acciari: 5th?

~23M in cap space this Summer?
