One thing that is tough with the NYR right now is that they have like 0 2nd round picks for the next 3 years and 1 3rd (in 2025). If Dubas wants the draft pick on top of the Kakko+prospect, it HAS to be a first. There's so little wiggle room. Unless we want to add a pick in to help balance it out.

like: Kakko+Othmann+2024 1st for Jake @50% + 2024 2nd.

OR we give them a draft pick that is obtain with sending Neds, Smith, Eller, etc out which I assume is around a 2nd or 3rd.

I think the same reasons you want to get rid of him are the same reasons no one will buy. His deal is a little pricey for a team presumably up against the cap. Probably easier to just hold him and sell at next TDL. Assuming Guentzel is indeed traded Pens won’t be strapped for the cap keeping him and he’s a warm body.

Eller will only count like 1M against the cap post deadline. I think anyone could find room for that. Half the playoff teams already shaving cap by waiver drops. His extra year sort of irrelevant and they could probably re-deal him in the Summer if they dont' like it but I generally agree term on him may be viewed as a negative.

I mean for next year.

It could be the 2025 3rd that changes to a 1st if the Rags win the Cup!

It’s horrible that this now extending to and likely past the game tonight…it doesn’t help the players concentrate Dubas…

Definite options there.

We add a 2nd to get their first.

As someone mentioned - no idea what the plusses would be but if we took back Goodrow I'm sure they would sweeten the pot much, much further.

Last thing we wanna do now is win

Last thing I want to see is any of Smith, Rakell, Ruh or the bottom 6 in the lineup tonight.

..but then again that's most nights.

I've approached that in the past. I would want a deal in place for Eller or Acciari or even both. I would likely want Perreault in that case as well.

Kakko, Goodrow, Perreault, 1st
for
Jake@50%

Eller and/or Acciari out for a 2nd/3rd

Raks-Sid-Rust
Kakko-Malkin-Perreault
DOC-3C-Puustinen
Nieto-Goodrow-Poulin

Depending on the 3C, I could be inclined to try that. Get super interesting if Jake resigns with us. Maybe then you can move Rakell out for a center. Or Kakko out for a younger center.

pens focus is fishing in the top 10 for the draft. Get a RD and with the pick back for Jake a RW. That is a start. What ever Dubas cab get back for Smith send to Rangers.

Sullivan would bury Kakko between the 3rd and 4th lines and whoever Jeff Carter 2.0 is next year will have double the ice time.

Everything seems so pointless with him still here. Really wouldn't be shocked if FSG gave him veto power over any trades and that's the hold up.

Poulin and DOC are both center capable. Let them duke it out through the end of the season for 3C. One wins, the other goes to W. And if neither win we find another option in the summer.

I like Hoglander way more than Kakko, but if the Rangers are packaging him with a Perrault then that probably makes up for the difference
