If a change of scenery doesn't change anything in the last 20-ish games of the season, I'm not giving him a raise on his $2.1M in the hopes some other team will trade for him.
 
I get NYR not wanting to trade Perreault but at the same time, I feel like there is always a Perreault-level player in the draft available at 20-32.

You could sign a decent FA for 2 years that will likely produce the same rate as he would in the NHL for his first two years while you draft a new one.

Is it THAT big of a deal to get him when you're getting Guentzel back and have a horse of a team going into the playoffs?

If Icedcapp is right that Dubas doesn’t want picks then I don’t think a deal is gonna look like a prospect + multiple picks

The thing with Perreault is that he exploded as a prospect in his draft+1 year. The Rangers would be insane to trade him right now.

He's a top-10 prospect in the NHL according to Wheeler.

Which is why I want him and why I want the NYR to give him up.

I'm a product of my Pittsburgh Sports environment.

When I get really down on the Penguins, I just remind myself that this Penguins team (and all their current faults) has won a Stanley Cup more recently than the Steelers have won a single playoff game.... Calms me down a little bit but then I just start ranting about the Steelers and their inability to fire their sack of crap coach or literally do a single thing different.

For one I don't believe Jake has the value people think he does. He's a pure rental, he's a finisher that has been attached to the hip of a top 3 player of all time for his entire career, he's been injured for the last month... There are a ton of unknowns for a buyer. I mean, look at the other deals lately. I think people are expecting a 2013 Ray Shero like return we were so used to sending out and it's probably not coming. And if they are all low offers, then ya, he's going to have to accept one of them and move on to other deals that also need to be made.

We should be sellers of quantity. The days trying to fix this team with a scalpel is over. Need to start hacking limbs,

I could be wrong, and maybe Kyle Dubas is some megamind.... But come on.

Speaking of Nikishin, my thought is this and it won’t be surprising: we got a two time Norris winner and 100 point defenseman and even if we got the best Dman not in the NHL right now, if Sullivan is coach next year, he will be useless.

IF we miss twice

IF they think there is locker room concerns

IF we sell a bunch of assets and get a bunch of young guns in place.

THEN I think give the entire staff the boot.

That definitely seems like a precursor.

Man I’m still on the fence about losing Jake and definitely want a roster player back that has at least the ability to play up top if needed.
 
The last play should be: "Hey Drury, Hey JR, Carolina is offering XYZ. Going with it unless you want to part with Lekkerimaki or Perreault"

I hope you’re right…sadly, based mostly on Dubas’ comments, I’m very suspicious he has authority to fire Sullivan and I don’t think FSG wants it to happen regardless

They didn't clear a lot of cap space, though. I don't know why people are saying that.

They have to wait until they clear waivers tomorrow and then they can send those guys down. That only saves them $3 million in cap space, the rest is just dead cap I believe.

Edit: actually wait, nevermind Guentzel is on IR. These guys being waived is necessary to take Guentzel off of IR, but he's not eligible yet. Nevermind I totally get how this clears money
