Avs want a goalie...Ned?

Sitting on Jake doesn't have me worried.

Sitting on the likes of Ned, Ruh, Acciari, Eller, & co have me worried....that Sullivan is still the GM and holding on to these duds because he thinks they'll somehow turn things around and make a push.

It makes sense why Smith may be held up by Jake - but the others? Why haven't ONE of them moved?

Jake at 50% retention, and Ruhwedel for Kakko, Schneider and a 1st and I drive Jake to the Rangers

No...kakko is verging in bust territory at this point and looks to be topping out as a middle sixer whose role might be best described as great 3rd liner someday. He is a throw in for cap purposes.

Schneider has lost his shine for me. For a guy who was supposed to be a physical defensive defender, his play in his own zone hasn't been consistent enough to be the center piece in a Jake deal. We've seen enough young defenders who are lost in their own zone come and go over the years

If you are trading with the rangers, retaining, and taking back at best a "project", at worst a total cap dump in kk, then one of their top offensive prospects better end coming back.

Exactly.

All those rumors about the Canucks being "aggressive" about going after Jake, but they won't pay a top prospect or a 1st round pick, were so idiotic. If you're not giving up something of value, then you're not getting the player.

Asking for both of those pieces is absurd. I understand it's a negotiation tactic, but that's wild.

Yesterday they were aggressively and almost an imminent deal for Zucker
24h later they're still on Guentzel and that's why KD is asking the moon, cause he will most probably get it and rightfully so!

From the talk before:

-Canes have made an offer, and Friedman believes that they're willing to do something they haven't done before with a rental.
-Rangers had to acquire a center before going all-in on Guentzel
-Vegas wanted to acquire Hanifin and see what they had left to offer for Guentzel
-Colorado jumped in after clearing out Johansen's deal

Teams were telling Pittsburgh "they had to get some business done, but then we're in", but it seems like that has since happened with the Rangers acquiring Wennberg and Vegas getting Hanifin. Friedman says a bunch of these teams are in on Guentzel after "finishing their business".

Friedman finished this with saying that he thinks the Penguins saw value in Carolina's offer, but they were holding up because other teams were saying "we want to talk Guentzel after finishing up a few other things".

Smith 50% for a 2nd and a 3rd or prospect.
Ned for a 3rd to Avs.
Jake for the best offer possible (hopefully we get Nikishin ;) ).

Good. They don't pay this, tell them to pound sand.

I don't know if you get both those guys, it would be nice but I have a hard time believing it.

Who is valued more pod or hog? I felt like pod has fallen off over the past year or so with him being a higher ceiling if everything goes perfect prospect vs hog who would has a better chance of being a very good NHL player.

Hoglander. Podkolzin is trash.

Wish they would have gotten a few other deals done then while they were waiting.

Sounds like they have the trade options in place but may be waiting to see if others beat it (the Carolina deal specifically).

"Some think".............brilliance.

"while others think a turd can be turned into fuel for automobiles"
LOL these alleged "insiders" and "hockey experts" are NOW figuring that out when any other unconnected slap ass cretin with the cognitive ability to tie their own shoes or wipe their own asshole figured this out how long ago? In other breaking news, cows go moo, man landed on the moon and found out it wasn't made of cheese, there really is not a leprechaun or its pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, fish tank cleaner is not a cure for COVID.

I'd say it's less absurd than saying top prospects and 1st round picks aren't on the table.

I agree. But, I think if Penguins fans are thinking they are getting Hoglander and Lekke or Othmann and Kappo they are going to be disappointed.

If that type of package was available, the deal is done already IMO.

I gotta admit, as a person who loves seeing the wheeling and dealing stuff, Vegas impresses me with how they always seem to be able to bring in a couple of "big names" every time.

Most teams would be finished with a big addition like Hanifin, but they're acting like it's just Part 1 before adding Jake as Part 2.

I think those smaller deals are a lot easier to complete - and they may be partially done already. But I think it's smart to wait on someone like Smith, because those who didn't get Guentzel may be willing to pay more for Smith.

I think Smith at 50% should get more than that. A 50 point winger that is playoff proven at 2.5MM is a very attractive piece.
