GDT: Pens 2024 Trade Deadline Thread: Jake Shake Talk here

The billion dollar question. For some anger is their passion in sports. I used to live in Boston there were so many fans who were more engaged when the Red Sox were losing then when they won a World Series.

If a team isn't willing to meet that high price tag, then we keep and resign him. This isn't "sell for futures" this is "sell with the intent of making the team better next year". If the return doesn't do that, they don't move Jake.

From what I've gathered, Jones appears to be in that POJ/Smith category where he's a decent player but can't solidify his spot in the lineup. Good offensive minded puck mover with the occasional defensive lapses that one might expect. Again, sounds like like POJ or Smith. If Dubas wanted to send back Smith and a 4th/5th in that, I would do that.

Othmann is the headliner there so everything else would be secondary.

Because that deal is a clear win for the Penguins and New York could decide to spend some of those assets on a different player and leave you with a worse market.

Also shouldn’t we be doubting NYR’s ability to re-sign Jake? I’d love for them to give that up for a pure rental.

Deals come out of nowhere it seems. If Jake is moved, it will probably be a team not in the loop publicly. I still think Nashville has the cap space and a nice roster player, 1st round and prospect to get er done.

This is a message board to share thoughts, I don't think anyone is under the illusion that fans opinions matter (see Tomlin, Nutting and SULLY). To be truthfully honest, I find the sport to be quite the bore these days, it's all the same grinding dump and chase style with little to zero emotion. I follow out of habit, little else.

What I don't understand is someone like you who thinks they have some expertise or authority to tell others to stop sharing their thoughts on an obviously arrogant, ignorantly run franchise. As per the internet handbook, you somehow place yourself above the fray, cast aspersions and childish insults, then only to slink away with your arrogance held on high.

Just how I see it bud.

Othmann was on the Bedard WJC team in Halifax. I watched all those games live, but I honestly don't remember too much other than my general feeling that Canada had very few guys other than Bedard worth a damn. Othmann was one of this guys I remember not hating to see come over the boards.

It’s not arrogance. You’re all sharing your opinions as if they are opinions shared by the team.

The whole point is, you’re all approaching this exact opposite of how the organization is, and then calling them names for not doing it YOUR way.

That is arrogant. I’m simply telling you that if you’re not going to admit that what you want will never happen because the team has made it clear they’re not doing it, then you’re just throwing a tantrum that you caused.

If you think this is arrogant or insulting, you have 0 ability to read situations and take criticism

If the Rangers included Perreault I'd make the deal immediately. Perreault is an s tier prospect.
