Pittsburgh Penguins 2024:

A bunch of guys you don’t really hate seeing come over the boards. Catch the excitement.
Along with fan favorite Jansen Harkins who, despite scoring 0 goals, was awarded a 7yr x $900k contract.
Further proof that Nick Kypreos has an agenda and that any rumors from him involving the Penguins/Dubas should not be believed.

Dubas knows how that goes. *Stares with hatred toward Hextall*

The one thing that makes me a bit concerned regarding the Rangers is that they don't quite have the cap space needed to pull off Guentzel at 50%. They're already running with a 22 man roster, so I think they may need to get a 3rd party involved to retain a bit more on Guentzel to make the money work.

Although with that being said, I've seen some speculation that the Rangers are willing to trade Kakko, and that opens up more than enough cap space to make this deal work.

They could easily send us Kakko or even Vesey.

Self aware is a good skill to have. I acknowledge it. My saving grace is that I'm not quite the piece of shit in real life that I am on here.

Friedman said here that Vancouver has dropped out on Guentzel because they feel they can't compete with the offers of other teams.

I don't know if this is speculation from Staple, but if Perreault and a 1st is on the table from the Rangers, I have no clue how you can't take that immediately.

I think that the whole don't trade within the division thing is overblown.

If you are on the downward track and close to entering a long rebuild who cares if they will play you next year?

Get the best value that you can.

If you are both in your prime and legit cup contenders then that is a different story.

He was probably rushed to the NHL, but it is what it is at this point. If he can be a young staple on a third line for us, that’s ok with me.

Yeah I think he's more of an all around 3rd liner at this point, maybe he has middle-6 upside but I'm skeptical he gets much better.

My major concern is that I wouldn't want Kakko draining from the rest of the value of the package. If they're moving Guentzel to the Rangers, they need to get Othmann or Perreault back. If acquiring Kakko means you can't get Othmann, that's not acceptable.

For a team with awful depth, Kakko would be a welcome addition to their 3rd line. I just think his 2nd overall pick status is going to drastically inflate his value from where it should be.

Cap machinations could be a hold up to a deal, too. For example, there could be a framework of a deal in place with the Rangers, contingent on the Rangers moving out additional cap space to someone else.

From the half empty side, it would be better especially if you have upcoming matchups because you are more apt to lose and improve your draft standing.
