I assume you can write off a lot of his inconsistencies much like Murray up to his health versus his actual play.

Yeah that's a good point. Maybe his late season regression is viewed as being due to him getting minor injuries every year that gradually deteriorate his play. That would explain the "health" aspect.

I'm honestly a bit surprised about the second point, I would have expected Jarry's inconsistencies to be a bigger issue among NHL teams and not his health.

Nobody pays attention to this team anymore lol

Everyone still thinks Sullivan is some kind of megabrain ubercoach, too. Despite doing nothing but falling flat on his face, often in humiliating fashion, for the better part of a decade.

I’ve been a little sour on Jarry since the Islanders playoff series a few years back where I believe an answer he had for reporters on what he could have done differently? To quote him “ I don’t know stop it I guess?”.

He just doesn’t have that IT factor in my opinion. Not that this didn’t happen behind the scenes and I get he was being a good teammate I would have liked to see him being a little ticked off about being benched at the end of the year or at least respond and steal a game when he got a chance.

That’s a great answer. Reporters ask dumb questions

Yeah I think Gurgs' explanation summed it up. It's not about him playing versus not playing, it's about him consistently getting nagging injuries that cause his play to gradually deteriorate. The "health" aspect is more "his body can't hold up over a full NHL season".

Which actually makes a lot of sense to me and what I was thinking was the main cause of his late season collapse.

I gotta believe that Jarry's shutouts total this past season has value. I mean, teams may look at him and wonder, "if he could just stay healthy, he clearly has the ability to win games by himself", that sort of narrative.

So it would make sense that they see injuries as a bigger bugaboo than the inconsistency.

And the funny thing about that is that one of Jarry's biggest weaknesses is that he can't seem to win games on his own. Or... well... ones that mean anything, at least. He's the walking definition of anti-clutch.

Nothing about HFBoards has an effect on my life besides my wife saying "why do you spend time on that?".

I honestly could care less if this site vanished and would just move to one of the other Discord's I say stuff about hockey on.

Same thing happened when I was banned for 6 months or whatever that was.

Later that night…….

Anyway with the buyout window opening in the next day or two (not sure if it's tomorrow or Thursday), I figure we'll have a flurry of waiver activity in about 5 minutes. Campbell almost definitely seems like he'll be waived but I'm curious who else ends up on waivers.
I'd be fine if it was just the Acciari contract bought out and then Kindergarten Kyle makes deals to move Smith and Jarry.

I don't want Rutger McGroarty for the same reason I don't want Macklin Celebrini or Cruz Lucius or Chaz Lucius. I don't want to hear the play-by-play over and over. I mean, did McGroarty's parents even bother to say his name out loud before he was born? The last name is bad enough, but Rutger? Do it right now. Say it out loud and feel the awful things it makes your mouth do. White women need to be stopped.

Rutger Hauer is pretty awesome, though. He's seen things you people wouldn't believe. He played a blind ninja FFS.

But combined with McGROARTY is way over the top. It's like trying to emulate talking with a mouth full of marbles or while you're gargling Elmers glue. I hate it but I kinda have to respect it. I'm torn.

It makes absolutely no sense.

If Walman was available Dubas should have taken him for nothing.

I would have legitimately traded positive value for him to be on the Penguins 2nd pair. Really bizarre move here. Exact kind of DFD that would fit well with Letang and he doesn't cost all that much.

I guess Walman just had a bad 2023-2024 and Detroit was desperate enough to get out of his deal to do this. Still bizarre though.
