You’re no match for @Honour Over Glory if Sullivan is involved 😜
Dubas is in the same trap JR and Hextall are in. Old and new ownership loves Sullivan more. I mean the fact that idiots here don't even mention that Sullivan went around everyone's back and got his own extension done with ownership shows the kind of slimy weasel he is. Also the power he wields when the ownership deferred to him about how to run things in wbs and the gm search.

Dubas took the role for the title on his resume. Makes it easier to get that job again for a team not run and owned by absolute idiots.

Change that name to Sullivan and you got something there lol…I swear, just thinking about him still being here after two failed seasons and no hope of him ever getting fired makes my blood boil lol…
Welcome to the party....my blood began to boil after Sully nuked Jr's 2018 offseason moves. He shat on Sprong, Reaves and Cole. The Sully haters support group should hold a parade in honor of their founding member.

The only guy of that group that I miss even a little bit is Cole. Mentioning Sprong is silly when their current top pair LD came from the Sprong trade, they're far better off due to that trade.

How is Jarry by far the best available, but also the Oilers need to upgrade in net? Skinner has outplayed Jarry the past two years. Jarry is an arguable downgrade.

Skinner is just Jarry that hasn't gotten a huge UFA extension. The two are basically the same goalie.

It's hilarious how much you guys think I care about HFBoards when the majority of my time is spent on here while I'm bored at work.

Most of my time is spent watching the Penguins and enjoying when they win.

Kyle Dubas and Mike Sullivan mean nothing in the long run to me as a fan. It's just hilarious how our management is so bad.

Which is why Ullmark is better than Jarry. But that doesn't explain why fans just hand-wave away Ullmark's terrible playoff track record when they grill Jarry for it.
That New york Islanders series was historically bad. I get why people are cautious of Jarry. Ullmark's play is more likely to translate to postseason success. A handful of games mean nothing compared to his 98% body of work. If Jarry had a better track record lately, even in the reg season, people would definitely hold back on the postseason criticism. Hes bad in both seasons.

I dunno man, that's for you and your therapist to hash out.

Nothing about HFBoards has an effect on my life besides my wife saying "why do you spend time on that?".

I honestly could care less if this site vanished and would just move to one of the other Discord's I say stuff about hockey on.

Same thing happened when I was banned for 6 months or whatever that was.

Anyway with the buyout window opening in the next day or two (not sure if it's tomorrow or Thursday), I figure we'll have a flurry of waiver activity in about 5 minutes. Campbell almost definitely seems like he'll be waived but I'm curious who else ends up on waivers.

This week should be fun.

Well, for everyone that doesn't have Dubas as a GM.

Has it been confirmed that Ullmark will not re-sign with the Senators? That is obviously big if true. I have not seen that anywhere (yet). Bruins fans (some, at least) want Korpisalo bought out. Weird take, but not impossible.

As has been said previously, everything about NHL goaltending is bizarre. So, expect the unexpected I guess.

I still think there is something possible with Detroit. We would have to take back Husso, but I don't think that is a problem. Weren't Husso and Ned teammates in '22-23? Plus, Husso and Blomqvist are countrymen. That seems like a solid group if we can make this deal.

Regarding Stamkos, just give me that 40-goal potential. We can figure out the rest, like where he plays and what is his best position (he plays all three up front).

Beyond getting younger (why have we not signed Yager yet???), improving the PP should be priority 1. Nobody, available or otherwise, improves this power play more than Stamkos. Not Marner. Not Laine. Not current Ovechkin. Not Draisaitl or even McDavid.

If we can add Stamkos to Crosby, Malkin, Karlsson and Bunting, we eliminate every possible excuse imaginable. That is a PP that has to work.

I mentioned it in the prospects thread but word is Winnipeg is gonna part with McGroarty and I don't know if it's possible, but if Dubas could somehow work out a deal to land him without paying a 1st or Yager, I'd wipe the slate clean on all the lame dogshit he's done in his first year and not give a shit (well, less than now) about anything until Sid's retired.

I think it'd probably cost next year's 1st, but as long as Dubas makes sure it's top-10 protected, I would begrudgingly pull the trigger, Probably not gonna snag someone of McGroarty-caliber with where this team's gonna be drafting a year from now, unless Sid has an injury that sees him miss like 30+ games.

Detroit obviously just traded for Tampa's 2nd to send with Husso for Jarry. Absolutely 100%.

Fingers crossed.

Jarry is a good goalie, just not a good starter. He can't handle the workload it takes and falls off as the season progresses. I'm fine with keeping him as long as he splits starts with Ned and Blomqvist. Also, too many people are high on Ned who was playing poorly the last few games of the season.

That said, it looked like the team and coach gave up on Jarry. If that's the case, he has to be moved even if it costs assets to do so.

God, I hope Dubas dumps Jarry. I would like a return of some value asset-wise, but I'd take a return of "getting that dork ass loser off the team" value-wise.

-edit- Also @Jesse I hope your AC breaks if you're getting my hopes up for nothing.

Listening to Friedman's 32 thoughts now:

-In their last podcast, they had mentioned the only 2 starting goalies available were Ullmark and Gibson. A source then told Friedman "you are missing someone", and Friedman's conclusion was that Jarry was the other guy available. ("when I started to figure out who he was talking about, I landed on Jarry")
-The concern with Jarry is not his level of play, with Marek and Friedman saying "he's a really good goalie". It's his health, that's the major issue teams see with him.
-"Something going on out there" with Jarry.

I'm honestly a bit surprised about the second point, I would have expected Jarry's inconsistencies to be a bigger issue among NHL teams and not his health.

The whole Gibson thing seems so wierd to me

1. He hasnt been good in a really long time
2. Apparently Ducks dont want to move him or have maintained a high price on him

Considering these factors, not sure why hes talked about so much,

Issue with Gibson is more that the Ducks don't want to retain on him, from what they said on the last podcast.

I assume you can write off a lot of his inconsistencies much like Murray up to his health versus his actual play.

I’ve been a little sour on Jarry since the Islanders playoff series a few years back where I believe an answer he had for reporters on what he could have done differently? To quote him “ I don’t know stop it I guess?”.

He just doesn’t have that IT factor in my opinion. Not that this didn’t happen behind the scenes and I get he was being a good teammate I would have liked to see him being a little ticked off about being benched at the end of the year or at least respond and steal a game when he got a chance.
